I am a native English speaker living in Cannes.
In 2010 I obtained my TESOL qualification and since then have enjoyed teaching English as a second language. While in London I taught K-Pop stars; here in Cannes I teach children from as young as 5.

With the beginners - irrespective of age - I tend to start with phonics. A good grasp of phonics enables students to read and spell easier. It is proven that students that have started their English language learning journey with phonics tend to have a better understanding and command of grammar, syntax and language overall than those who did not complete this vital element of the English language. Once completed, I follow the Cambridge English syllabus. IThe Cambridge curriculum and material are interesting, relevant and cater to a variety of ages and levels. In addition, the Cambridge exams and certificates are accepted by many international bodies.

All lessons are customised and adapted in order to correspond to the student's level.

I have had a varied and rich career for which I am incredibly grateful: entrepreneur, tour guide, lecturer, teacher, archivist. All have enabled me to carry on learning and to share my knowledge. Throughout my classes I incorporate contemporary subjects in order to keep my students engaged. I love to include art as a discussion point- I have found this particularly useful for my younger students.

Use an excellent teaching method based on all communication. Memory is constantly stimulated thanks to images, associations of ideas, the use of exciting contexts... This method works very well for all ages and all levels.

I have 7 years of teaching experience at all levels, academic support, refresher training, oral coaching, travel preparation.

I also hold the BAFA (Brevet d'Aptitude aux Functions d'Animateur) and teach children in a fun and adapted way, using games, songs, plastic activities, so that they quickly become comfortable, and happy to speak English!

3 good tips to learn a language

1) Listen a lot

This is essential. And easy, for English. You can watch movies or series, subtitles in French at first then in English when you are more comfortable. You can listen to the songs in the lyrics ("lyrics" in English).

2) Many speakers

Also essential, find a teacher who has a good conversation, or a friend, college... Speak even if you lack vocabulary. Mime the missing words, draw, make yourself understood at your level.

3) Read simple things

Books for children can be a wonderful tool of progress. Roald Dahl's books for example (Fantastic Mr Fox, Charly and the Chocolate Factory...) the series "the worst witch" by Jill Murphy. Comics too.
