Introductory Chinese for Background and Non-Background Students

This class introduces the Chinese language through basic greetings, writing structure, pinyin and vocabulary that are essential to basic communication. I've designed this course for those who have little or no knowledge of Chinese. The following topics will be covered in the lessons: 1. Basic greetings 2. Meeting new friends; 3. Asking about things around you; 4. Daily routines; 5. Family; 6. Likes and dislikes.

While studying Chinese, you will be challenged to discover different approaches to viewing the world around both linguistically and culturally. You are also introduced to learning routines necessary to succeed in the fast pace learning of a foreign language.

I am a very passionate tutor who devises unique lessons to fit individual needs in skill-building on each subject. I would love to offer support to those wanting to learn a foreign language, students who are unable to attend school with complete instructional assistance and coach students through challenging material with positive reinforcement and encouragement.

Education

Bachelor of International Studies and Bachelor of Media (Journalism and Communication) at UNSW. Completed a major in Advanced Chinese Studies (Professional Chinese, Chinese Interpreting, Chinese Cinemas etc) and currently undertaking a minor of Japanese Studies.

I completed HSC in 2018 with an Atar over 90 and band 6 in two subjects including Chinese. I also coached at Tutoring4All and was a private English tutor for year 11 HSC.

I have a background in business and experience teaching languages, as this is something I enjoy. I have taught children between 12-16 years old and adults for the last 10 years.

If you decide to take a lesson with me I can assure you that it will be interactive, fun and with a high component of conversational Spanish, which is the best way to learn a language!

I'm a student at the University of Sydney (UNSW) for 4 months, until September 2024, and I'd like to take advantage of this to come and meet you, whether remotely or in real life, to offer you a complete course, with worksheets and exercises that I've prepared.

Once you've had a lesson with me, you'll have the resources you need to continue learning on your own, and a well-detailed guideline for continuing serenely on your own. You can of course continue to take lessons with me so that I can correct you and continue my course so that you have a follow-up. This course is suitable for children, teenagers or adults. I'll adapt to you and tailor my lessons to your expectations and your level!

Just a small advice, to learn this language, you'll need to practise speaking and listening to it a lot (everydays), because that's obviously the best way to make progress. It's a bit like a baby who hears his parents speak every day and doesn't understand everything, but ends up becoming what we call a native speaker. We will work a lot on these aspects and you will love learning French!

As the best way to learn a language is to practise it, I offer one-to-one conversation, supplemented by vocabulary and grammar lessons.

We will exchange on various topics to keep your interest high, and if you are new to the French language, I will teach you the basics first and translate in real time.
