About Me

I am Roman, student at the French Conservatory of Brussels. I've been playing guitar for around ten years, I've always loved American music in general, blues, country and jazz specifically. I mainly play these musics today.

Education

I started playing guitar at the age of 8 with my father who is a professional guitarist, I played a lot of blues, bluegrass and gypsy jazz with him for 2 to 3 years.
I then became interested in "American" jazz and I started working on the bebop repertoire at the Frontignan conservatory while continuing the traditional music that I was used to playing.
The following year, I entered the Montpellier conservatory under the direction of Serge Lazarevitch and Patrice Heral where I was able to learn and practice jazz.

I then obtained my DEM there and then went to the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.

Opening act for Louis Winsberg and Emile Parisien solo at the Nîmes Jazz Festival, opening act for Bireli Lagrenne at the Sète Jazz Festival, trio concert at the Radio France Festival.

I am Thijs (30) an experienced drummer and musician, with a wide range of musical interests. Studying jazz drums under the wings of Lander Gyselinck at the KASK/Conservatory in Ghent. In addition, I have followed masterclasses and lessons from/with Joey Baron (US), Kendrick Scott (US), Corey Fonville (US) and Stéphane Galland (BE). I am also active in various bands/groups.

My lessons, depending on the level, focus on both the fundamental building blocks of drumming and music as a whole. These building blocks together with the student's interests form the curriculum, so that it meets the student's wishes as best as possible. I also teach music theory/music theory.
