Hi everyone,
I am 27 years old and french is my tongue language.
I started teaching French to English speakers in New-Zealand 10 years ago at school when I was myself a student at St Magaret College.
Since then, I have been regularly giving lessons during workshops back in France, for new arriving persons.
In Amsterdam, I am a student in Art Master Program at the Sandberg Institut.
If wanted, I can also combine french lessons with art history, contemporary art knowledge but also french literature, political science french theorist ... or simply learning the basics to be able to socialize in French. That's up to you!

Besides helping you to become more fluent in French, I have a passion for French Grammar.
I have been teaching French for more than 15 years and I enjoy explaining difficult things in a simple way with clear examples. I can answer any question about French Grammar or make you practice what you know in theory.

For beginners, I use the book Alter Ego+ A1 with which I had great results over the years.
For advanced students, I use mainly videos and conversation.
I can help you to prepare the DELF as I am an official examiner.

Originally from the French Alps, I have been living in the Netherlands to complete a bachelor degree in human sciences.
As a young and enthusiastic person, I am willing to adapt my lessons to your own requirements and level.
I truly believe that learning a language could be something enjoyable if it is related to your field of interest. That is why my lessons aim to teach french language through various cultural approaches. If you have a particular interest in movies, music, literature or art, my role is to build lessons around this topic to make you feel even more interested in learning french.
An emphasis will be put on oral conversations even tough some grammatical and writing structures need a written explanation.
I can give adapted lessons from beginners to advanced.
I already have previous experience in teaching french and would be glad to share again my knowledge and my culture. I have taught french to a Dutch woman,weekly, during one year and it was a real pleasure to help her to improve her french.

My name is Valérie. As a native speaker of French and Dutch and graduated as an interpreter of French / Dutch I have given with great pleasure French language courses for years to all different kinds of students.

The lessons are given in French and mainly focused on speaking the language. They are therefore practically oriented. The lessons are tailor-made because I follow the wishes and goals of the students during the first lesson.

De eerste les is een kennismakingsles; we bepalen dan wat het voorlopige lesprogramma is; beginner of in min of meerdere mate gevorderde; is het Frans bedoeld voor privé of zakelijk doel; hoeveel tijd kan je besteden aan het leren van een vreemde taal, wat is je voorgeschiedenis qua school of Frans. Tijdens deze eerste les vertel ik iets over mezelf en leg ik uit hoe ik te werk ga: eerst de twee mondelinge vaardigheden [luisteren en spreken, in die volgorde!] en vervolgens de schriftelijke vaardigheden [lezen en schrijven]. Het aanleren van een correcte uitspraak is belangrijk; zo nodig komt er een phonétique onderdeel bij. Ik werk met voornamelijk authentiek materiaal: methodes, cd's, opnames van Franse & Belgische televisie. Ook is een [rudimentaire] kennis van de grammatica een must. Leesboekjes [met cd] en schrijfopdrachten en dictees staan naast een verrijkingsprogramma van de vocabulaire eveneens op het programma. Tijdens deze eerste les, bekijken we ook wat haalbaar is qua tijd en studiebelasting. Ik geef alleen bij mij thuis les want daar heb ik alle materiaal staan; ik vind het contact met een cursist belangrijk en daarnaast, zo leert de ervaring, ben ik niet geschikt om via de webcame les te geven.
