My husband and I are probably considered advanced beginner Spanish speakers. We booked a week of lessons with Camilo in Medellin Colombia while we were spending time there and it was a very good experience. Camilo is not just someone who speaks the language; He is educated as a teacher and it shows. For me he did just the right amount of leading/teaching, listening, and correcting. His English is also very good, which was helpful the few times it made more sense to ask/answer in English. He is also a very nice and pleasant person to be with. I highly recommend him as a teacher and imagine that he would be just as good a teacher with true beginners as well as advanced speakers.

You may choose to just have well spirited discussion, focus on a variety of themes ranging from business oriented to purely recreational, or do a deep dive into a specific aspect of the language. If you are more than complete beginner, I'd recommend avoiding to speak a single word of English. Keen on making you progress, you may also ask her to correct all of your mistakes to avoid learning bad habits. If you are new to Bogota, she will go out of her way to make you feel comfortable in it and give you tips coming from a true local.

Carlos is an amazing teacher! I have learned more studying with him in a few months then I have learned in a year with other teachers. He is patient, knowledgeable and organized. We have good conversations and he really knows how to activate the language and give confidence to his students. For more basic students like myself it's very useful that he can speak other languages so well, although we use mostly Spanish in our lessons. He is simply the best! I highly recommend Carlos as a teacher!
