Ik voel me meer als een "guide" dan een docent, omdat ik vooral lesgeef om mensen te realiseren dat zij het eigenlijk allemaal wel zelf weten alleen er doorheen begeleid moeten worden. Ik ben zelf veel bezig met muziek, maar probeer het altijd menselijk te maken. Dus verhalen vertellen via muziek en ook zelf ontwikkeling te vorderen. In muziek is het namelijk belangrijk dat we begrijpen wat het met ons doet, en ook hoe het voor verbinding creëert in de wereld. Op dit moment ben ik meer naar de natuur aan het gaan omdat ik daar mijn leven op wil bouwen, dus vandaar dat ik nu even online les geef.

Education

In 2019 heb ik mijn bachelor in International Studies van Leiden Universiteit gehaald met een specificatie in Latin America en tegelijkertijd een Honours in Classical Piano bij Den Haagse Conservatorium.

< Apprentissage du piano n'est pas seulement une question de jouer du piano >

Avant de commencer à apprendre le piano, il est essentiel de comprendre que :

'' Ce que nous apprenons en réalité, c'est la "Musique", et pas seulement le "Piano". ''

L'objectif de l'apprentissage de n'importe quel instrument est d'acquérir la langue de la musique, ce qui nous permet d'exprimer nous-mêmes et de profiter de la musique avec d'autres. Jouer du piano permet de créer de beaux sons, mais pas nécessairement pour développer la vitesse ou la force des doigts. C'est plutôt la fonction de la gym.

< La musique, c'est comme la cuisine. >

Quand nous cuisinons, pour rendre un rôti de bœuf tendre, il est évidemment agréable d'avoir un cœur tendre, mais sans savoir comment contrôler la température, le rôti ne deviendra pas tendre simplement grâce à notre cœur tendre.

En ajoutant seulement du sel, le plat ne sera pas sucré. De même, jouer ou écrire simplement un accord de triade de do majeur ne transmettra pas un sentiment de tristesse.

Pour créer le sentiment que nous voulons, peu importe la quantité de sentiment que nous avons dans notre cœur, pour le transmettre via la musique, il doit être traduit dans le langage que le piano peut comprendre, c'est-à-dire comment nous appuyons sur les touches et les pédales. De même, lorsque nous composons, cela doit être transféré en accords, en notes que nous écrivons.

< Différence entre un public et un musicien. >

Il y a une croyance commune selon laquelle un musicien peut créer de la musique avec sentiment ou émotion. Bien que cela soit partiellement vrai, la chose la plus essentielle est de savoir "comment" créer le son qui transmet le sentiment que nous voulons, plutôt que simplement savoir "quel" sentiment nous voulons transmettre.

La compréhension du mécanisme derrière la musique est essentielle, comme en cuisine, et c'est la différence entre un public et un musicien. En tant que public, nous pouvons simplement ressentir la musique. Comme un chef qui sait comment créer une saveur spécifique à transmettre, un musicien sait comment créer le son qui peut transmettre le sentiment que nous voulons. Bien savoir quel sentiment nous voulons est formidable, mais c'est simplement la première étape. Nos émotions ne sont pas si différentes de Chopin, Beethoven, Adele ou Taylor Swift, sinon elles ne pourraient pas résonner avec nous. Mais ils savent comment créer le son qui transmet le sentiment qu'ils veulent à leur public.

< Contenu du cours >

Je considère mon cours comme une forme de "consultation musicale" car il comprend une large gamme de sujets qui sont essentiels pour un musicien professionnel. Bien que nous nous concentrions sur le jeu de piano, il y a aussi la théorie musicale, l'histoire de la musique, la construction d'instruments, l'ergonomie pour les interprètes, l'analyse des styles de compositeurs, la composition, l'arrangement, l'enregistrement, le MIDI, la musique informatique, la physique du son et bien plus encore. Pour éviter toute confusion, appelons toujours mon cours "cours de piano”.

< Durée >

Pour chaque cours, je réserverai au moins 70 minutes dans mon emploi du temps pour vous, comprenant 60 minutes de temps de cours et 10 minutes supplémentaires pour la discussion et toutes les questions que vous pourriez avoir. Cela garantit que vos cours ne sont pas pressés par l'étudiant suivant et qu'il y a suffisamment de temps pour résoudre vos problèmes de piano et de musique.

< Enregistrement >

J'encourage fortement mes élèves à enregistrer leur progression. Cela peut fournir une norme objective pour la comparaison et vous aider à analyser votre jeu précisément. Au cours de mes neuf ans d'expérience en enseignement de la musique, j'ai constaté que de nombreux élèves, y compris les avancés, jouent déjà certaines sections très bien, tandis que d'autres sections ne sont pas assez bonnes. Mais ils continuent d'essayer d'améliorer ces sections fines, sans être conscients de ces sections faibles. Sans une référence objective, il est difficile de distribuer notre effort avec précision. Cela peut conduire à des performances instables et à une pratique sans but précis qui peut facilement réduire l'enthousiasme. Enregistrer vos résultats et les comparer avec les enregistrements que vous aimez sur YouTube ou Spotify peut être un moyen efficace d'analyser votre jeu et de fixer des objectifs précis.

I am a very proud piano teacher, as on Jan 11 2026 four young students of mine were awarded by the renown American Competition "The Royal Foundation" and were invited and performed at a Gala at the Carnegie Hall in New York City! Also, these kids were invited to participate to the Juilliard School festival, with masterclass and lessons, a fabulous chance and experience that I wish all young pianists could have!

On Sept 1st 2024 three awarded students of mine were invited to perform at The DiMenna Classical Centre of Music in Manhattan, from another American competition, the International Youth Music Competition.

I wish I can always bring such great opportunities and successes to all of my "piano kids"!

The most important matter that I could write here about is my passion to teach. I've been teaching already for more than 10 years, from kids to adults. I'm a classical pianist, but I am opened to other musical styles. What I want you to get from your lessons with me, is not only a huge knowledge of theorical stuff or a great technique, I would like to show you my musical world, the imagination and inner exploration that is required to understand and to love music in a whole new level. I use different methods depending on:
1) The goals of my student
2) The language that we will use on class
3) Age and musical preferences: I start to teach children from 3 years old, we make games and they learn to play through musical stories that I have created throughout my pedagogical career.

I have over 12 years of teaching experience and I have been working as a Professional Pianist for 7 years now, in 8 different countries (Switzerland, Austria, Iceland, Spain, etc.) and on Luxury Cruise Ships (Worldwide).

I can show you how to have fun with the piano. If you're a beginner, I can take you right from step one and have you playing familiar songs by the 1st or 2nd lesson. If you already have some experience, I can add to it.

My main goal is to help you achieve your goals and prepare the best lesson for you!

I've been playing and studying piano since age 6 (over 25 years ago). I began with classical music, and later added Ragtime, Jazz, Blues, Pop, Rock, and Chord theory.

I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance, Classical Music (4 years). I have participated in numerous Piano Masterclasses in Europe, and I studied with great pianists. I still learn from different Highly Accomplished Musicians. I believe learning never stops.

I have much to share with my students.

TEACHING STYLE

I am a very patient teacher. I love teaching all ages. I don't teach everyone the same way. I tailor lessons according to individual goals and needs. I insist on the importance of technique and musicality.

I also guide all my students even outside of the teaching time, by responding to all their questions (music theory or technical) and sending them videos.

I teach how to prevent Piano Injuries by focusing on proper technique, posture, and practice habits.

My professional experience includes coaching students of all levels and ages. I successfully prepared the students for their Piano Exams, like ABRSM, Trinity Grade, from grades 1-8, with merits and distinctions, and more advanced exams as well (Performance Diplomas).

I teach for the Enjoyment of Music as well. I believe you can learn to play the piano at any age. My oldest student is over 75 years old, and my youngest one is 3 years old. They made great progress, and I am sure you could do the same.

I've never met anyone who didn't have musical abilities! You can be a serious or a recreational player. The only requirement is the willingness to spend some time at the piano.

I conduct my lessons using a combination of 4 cameras for optimum visibility, and a quality microphone which my students find very helpful. This allows them to see a very clear visual demonstration alongside my verbal explanation.

I can confidently say that Online Lessons are the same as In-Person Lessons.

CURRICULUM

I do not believe one method works for all students. I have used many different lesson books and resources over the years.

For beginners I like to use Alfred method books for basics concepts and for Classical and Jazz Piano technique I like to use ABRSM books (grade 1-8). If my student feels that they can learn better from another books, I am glad to adapt my teaching strategies to their needs.

Along with the lesson books below, I use a lot of supplemental materials based on the students' interests. I also aim to teach their favorite songs as soon as possible.

I like to clearly explain and demonstrate piano technique. In this way, the students are able to apply the information on similar passages from all genres of music.

I teach online via Zoom, using software which allows you to see the exact keys I'm playing on my keyboard.

My teaching method is to focus on whatever type of music the student loves most, and to build from there. I believe that many people give up their dream of playing an instrument simply because they aren't inspired enough, so my goal is to instill a love for music, whatever that means personally for each individual student.

Everyone learns differently and has their own pace and rhythm. I have some students who like to have a regular weekly or biweekly lesson, and others who just get in touch once in a while when they have digested the previous lesson and feel ready to build on it. Whatever the case, I am very flexible and we can figure out what works best for you.

A bit about me:

Originally honing my skills on the British jazz scene and holding residencies in restaurants and bars around the country, I then went on to tour the world playing on cruise ships, hotels and festivals. I returned to London to complete my master's in jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music, and during this time performed regularly at Ronnie Scotts, The Vortex and many other venues across the UK. I then spent two years in South America learning about salsa and Cuban music. I now mainly work as a transcriber, writing sheet music for all instruments including full Big Band scores. I have also worked extensively in musical theatre, most recently as musical director for 'Jersey Boys', and on the first US national tour of 'Summer: the Donna Summer Musical'. The video shown below is from my stint playing and directing 'After Midnight', a show set to the music of the Duke Ellington Big Band.

I am a Korean musician and educator based in Paris. I teach piano and music theory, and I have worked in several conservatories in the Paris region. My goal is to help students of all ages and levels build a solid musical foundation while developing their own sensitivity and curiosity. Whether you are a complete beginner or someone returning to music after years, we will work together at a pace and method that feels right for you.

I hold a Master’s degree in Musical Writing from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP) and Musicology from Sorbonne University. I also completed a Bachelor’s degree in Music composition at Yonsei University in Seoul.

Hallo daar! 🎶
Ja, jij, aardig mens.
Misschien droom je er al een tijdje van om piano te spelen. Misschien heb je als kind wel eens wat gespeeld, maar ben je er ergens mee gestopt. Of misschien ben je gewoon dol op het geluid van de piano en de zwart-witte toetsen en denk je vaak: 'Ik wou dat ik dat ook kon'.
Maar dan komen deze gedachten op:
'Ik heb niet genoeg tijd'
'De muziekschool is te ver weg.'
'Wat als het te moeilijk voor me is?'
'Mijn werkschema laat geen vaste lestijden toe.'
Het goede nieuws is: je hoeft niet langer te wachten. Nu is het juiste moment om te beginnen.

De oplossing? Online pianoles.
Als muzikant en pianoleraar begrijp ik deze worstelingen maar al te goed. Ik had zelf ook moeite met de rigide structuur van traditionele muziekscholen en wist lange tijd niet hoe ik efficiënt moest oefenen. Hoe maak je vooruitgang zonder je overweldigd te voelen? Hoe combineer je muzieklessen met een druk leven?
Door jarenlange ervaring, vallen en opstaan en veel zoeken, heb ik mijn eigen weg gevonden, soms onconventioneel, soms verrassend, maar altijd met een grote liefde voor muziek.
Ik heb nu een masterdiploma in muziek en mijn scriptie ging over stress bij professionele musici. Dit onderzoek heeft niet alleen mijn manier van spelen beïnvloed, maar ook mijn lesmethode. Ik vind dat muziekonderwijs niet stressvol of intimiderend moet zijn. Het moet juist ondersteunend, motiverend en afgestemd zijn op de persoon achter het instrument – en tegelijkertijd ook daadwerkelijk iets leren.

Wat kan ik u bieden?
Privé pianolessen, net als op een muziekschool, maar met veel meer vrijheid.

Flexibiliteit die bij jouw leven past. Je leert vanuit je eigen huis, in je eigen veilige omgeving. Mijn lesrooster staat online en elke week kies je een lestijd die jou uitkomt. Late diensten? Geen probleem. Oppas afgezegd? We passen ons aan. Jij blijft ontspannen.

Persoonlijke begeleiding en doorlopende feedback Tussen de lessen door kun je me opnames van je spel sturen. Als je vastloopt, hoef je niet een hele week te wachten om vragen te stellen. Je krijgt ondersteuning precies wanneer je die nodig hebt.

Leer zelfstandig, in je eigen tempo. Liever een meer zelfgestuurde aanpak? Ik bied ook een videocursus voor beginners aan, waarin je stap voor stap leert. De lessen worden gegeven door een echte docent – niet door een computer – met de mogelijkheid tot persoonlijke begeleiding wanneer je die nodig hebt.

Ontspanning, ademhaling en mindfulness in muziek
Wat mijn lessen zo bijzonder maakt, is de aandacht voor ontspanning en mentaal welzijn. Muziek is niet alleen fysiek; het is ook nauw verbonden met de geest en de ademhaling. Daarom integreer ik elementen van meditatie, ademhalingsoefeningen en ontspanningstechnieken in mijn lessen.
Vooral bij de voorbereiding op een optreden of in een stressvol moment kunnen deze hulpmiddelen een groot verschil maken.
Bijvoorbeeld: voor een concert uiten zenuwen zich vaak in oppervlakkige ademhaling, spanning of malende gedachten. Ik geef les in eenvoudige ademhalingsoefeningen die je helpen je zenuwstelsel te kalmeren, je aandacht te focussen en terug te keren naar de muziek in plaats van de angst.
Door ontspanning en mindfulness te integreren in je pianospel, verbeter je niet alleen je techniek, maar bouw je ook zelfvertrouwen, concentratie en een gezondere relatie op met muziek én met jezelf.
