Hi, I am Chao, native Mandarin Chinese speaker.

I specialize in teaching the Mandarin Chinese language and culture. My teaching experience is more than 8 years. My student range is from zero basis to advanced learner. The subjects taught range is from social Chinese to HSK exam preparation.

My pedagogical approach follows a step-by-step pathway for Chinese as a foreign language. For starters, my course provides a thorough understanding of the logic behind the Chinese language and culture. This approach enables beginners and advanced students to grasp the Chinese language and way of thinking.

Secondly, my course helps students master Mandarin Chinese from all its aspects: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

With kids (ages 5–15), I prepare extra interactive materials and recommend parents join the first lesson. With adults, I focus on building confidence, fluency, and clear communication.

I was born in the Netherlands and grew up in Spain, the Dominican Republic, and China. I’m a native speaker of Spanish and English, and I’m also proficient in Mandarin Chinese (HSK 6). In 2019, I completed my Chinese studies in Harbin, China.

In "Communication I", we focus exclusively on casual speaking, listening and reading. During your study, kindly note how subtly characters, pronunciations and meanings interrelate.

Some units we learn are Dishes, Festivals, Chinese star signs, Hobbies and Pronunciation. Other more advanced units are Character roots, Tang poems and Traditional characters. Ms Lisa designs your handouts.

For one-on-one lessons, Ms Lisa will tailor her class to the learner's needs.
