Hi!
My name is Dennis, I'm Dutch and I moved to Turkey when I was 6 years old. Therefore, both Dutch and Turkish are my native languages. I know English at C2 level and Spanish at B1 level. The reason I put an emphasis on this is the fact that since I know the language learning process very well, I know at what I have to pay attention to while teaching and where my students might have difficulties. I am a senior Foreign Language Education student at Boğaziçi University. In terms of my teaching experience, I had both corporate and personal business experiences over a period of 2 years. During these 2 years, I have worked in jobs such as a volunteer English teacher at TOÇEV, a summer camp assistant English teacher at TEVİTÖL, and my current English private lesson that has been going on for 6 months now.

Learning a foreign language is not a linear process that consists of memorising a list of words, and speaking a foreign language is not an oral translation exercise.

There are two types of approaches to acquiring knowledge:

When asked what year follows 1999, you can immediately answer 2000 without having to think for a long time and, above all, without having memorised each number individually, starting with 1, 2, 3 ... You know that numbers are formed according to a certain pattern. With only ten digits, you can form an infinite number of numbers and always know which number comes next.

When it comes to the alphabet, words and sentences, it's more or less the same, but school pedagogy, school textbooks and regular lessons still follow the rote learning approach. In the lessons I propose, you will learn to use patterns because this is more efficient and faster.

My methodology: Learning to structure one's thoughts to express oneself better
My approach is based on a simple observation: success is not achieved through lack of effort, but often through a lack of method and confidence. My role is to transform subjects sometimes perceived as abstract (Philosophy, French) or intimidating (English) into concrete tools for success.

The typical course of a session:
1. Quick diagnosis: We start by identifying the areas of uncertainty from the previous lesson or the difficulties with a specific exercise.
2. Taking action: No boring lectures! We work on concrete exercises, essay plans or oral practice (in English) to "learn by doing".
