I am a professional opera singer, currently studying a Master's at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Having performed numerous operas, oratorios and song recitals, I have a in depth and far reaching knowledge of the classical vocal repertoire and a good command of the musical theatre repertoire. Whether you are using it professionally or for fun, I am a strong believer that establishing excellent technique is essential to developing a voice. I work from the premise that no two voices are the same and I tailor lessons to suit my students. We will work on technique, repertoire, interpretation and, where appropriate, language skills.
Together, we can work on building a healthy voice and compiling a book of repertoire to help you prepare for exams or recitals. The aim of a lesson is to achieve vocal freedom, which will allow the student to approach repertoire healthily and confidently without fear of the voice giving out. Whatever age, skill level or intention for using the voice, this will ultimately make singing more enjoyable!
I have experience coaching choirs and working with young people, particularly with Cambiata North West. I have given masterclasses and singing days, most recently at Saffron Walden County High School.
If you would like to organise a lesson, please do not hesitate to contact me via the details on the 'Contact' tab. During the COVID - 19 lock down and social distancing period, I will be teaching remotely via Skype and Zoom.
As well as singing tuition, I am also happy to tutor music theory and academic music programmes up to and including A-Level Music. For young people, the aspects of performance and study go hand in hand and I believe it is important to offer support in all aspects of music!

Présentation
Hi there! I'm Jack I'm originally from Manchester, but now I live in London and study as a Master's student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Until 2019, I studied at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Before I became a singer, I was a musician only for fun and I played guitar and sang in a few bands. Originally, I wanted to go into class-room teaching, particularly history and politics, but after singing Jean Valjean in a production of Les Miserables, I started training to be an operatic tenor. Recently, I was awarded the Mario Lanza Opera Prize, the By Voice Alone Young Artist Development Award and I was a finalist in the Kathleen Ferrier Bursary for Young Singers.

My repertoire is varied and far-reaching. My operatic roles include Tamino (Mozart's Die Zauberflöte), Henry Crawford (Dove's Mansfield Park - composed in 2011), Raoul de Gardefeu (Offenbach's La Vie Parisienne), La théière (Ravel's L'Enfant et Les Sortilèges), Frederic (G&S Pirates of Penzance), The Defendant (G&S Trial by Jury). I have also performed in opera scenes as Rodolfo (La Bohéme), Alfredo (La Traviata), Don José (Carmen), Essex (Britten's Gloriana), Albert Herring (Albert Herring), Fritz (Mascagni's L'amico Fritz), Rodrigo (Verdi's Otello) and many more!

My Oratorio repertoire consists of all the standard choral works (Such as The Messiah, Mozart Requiem, Mozart C Minor Mass, The Creation, etc) and I perform them regularly all year round. I also perform lots of song repertoire - complete song cycles include Britten's Winter Words, Vaughan Williams' On Wenlock Edge and Songs of Travel and Poulenc's Deux Poemes de Louis Aragon, amongst others. My singing has taken me around the UK and to Venice and Malta. I have performed at Manchester's Bridgewater Hall, Birmingham's Symphony Hall and London's Barbican Hall.

I have always had excellent teachers and, for me, the technique is the most important aspect of singing as it allows us to use our voice to its full capacity. I love teaching and seeing my students achieve their full potential - this puts a massive smile on their face!

Andrea
My name is Andrea, I have recently concluded my Artist's Master in keyboard instruments at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. My passion for music induced me to apply in the “Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria” in the course of Harpsichord as my principal study. After 10 years studying music and obtaining the diploma of “Grado de Enseñanzas Profesionales” in the conservatory, I developed a deep interest for Classical and Early music for keyboard instruments.

Discovering a historical and musical universe, I decided to continue my performing and theoretical investigation studying the bachelor course in keyboard instruments including piano, harpsichord and organ. I had the amazing opportunity to obtain a scholarship and study at the "Conservatorio Tartini di Trieste", in Italy. Working with exceptional teachers, i was able expand my linguistic abilities and cultural appreciation for the expressive diversity of Keyboard music. I have discovered the magnificent variety between many composers all around Europe and the distinct features and techniques they utilized to improvise and to embellish their pieces. During this artistic journey, i have had extraordinary performance experiences as a soloist including playing at the Parlament of Brussels and the National Gallery in Bosnia. Recently, living in London has inspired me to take part in a wide variety of exciting projects such as performing as a keyboard accompanist in Opera Scenes and with the Guildhall Baroque Orchestra in the Milton Court Concert Hall.

Has your previous piano learning experience been a bit dull? Are you seeking a fresh approach to piano lessons? In my piano lessons, inspired by the Jacques-Dalcroze method, you'll enjoy a unique musical journey beyond just playing the piano and studying theory. You'll also be singing, improvising on the keyboard, and even moving to the music through dance. Learning piano should never be boring, and it certainly isn’t for me or my students. With me, you’ll discover the countless ways the piano can express music. You’ll explore compositions from various composers, periods, and styles, from the classical works of Mozart, Bach, Debussy, and Chopin, to modern pieces, pop songs, and jazz, including Shostakovich. Through eurhythmics exercises, you'll not only play but also feel the music by moving with it, enhancing your musical knowledge and deepening your emotional connection to sound. If you're unsure about moving with the music, don’t worry—I’ll be there to guide you in finding a way to enjoy and love music. I've played the piano since I was five years old and hold a Bachelor’s degree from the Geneva Music University. More recently, I completed my MA in Interdisciplinary Dance Performance at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. While my teaching experience mainly focuses on children aged 5-10, I am also well-versed in providing music training and piano lessons for adults. Most lessons are 60 minutes long, but I’m happy to adapt the timing and content based on your needs. Please feel free to get in touch if you're interested in lessons. I look forward to sharing my passion for music with you!
