I am a native speaker of English and student at the University of Nottingham in England where I study Spanish and Portuguese. I am on my semester abroad in Lisbon, and would love to tutor students in English to help develop their knowledge of the language.
My goal is to tailor classes to match the language capability level of the student in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere!

About Me
I am a 21 year old student from Manchester in England studying languages at The University of Nottingham. I am currently on my year abroad, I was in Madrid for the first half and I am now in Lisbon studying for the second. I have always loved learning languages, currently my degree focuses on Spanish and Portuguese, but I have also studied German (to A- Level, British qualification) and Latin ( to GCSE level, British qualification).
Education
I am currently studying an undergraduate degree at The University of Nottingham in Spanish and Portuguese.
I completed my GCSE qualifications (taken aged 16 years old) and obtained 13 with grades A*-B.
I completed my A level qualifictaions (taken aged 18 years old) and obtained grades ABB, in subjects German, Spanish and English Literature.
Experience / Qualifications
13 GCSEs (British Qualification) grade A*-B
German A level- grade A
Spanish A level- grade B
English Literature A level- grade B
Currently studying an undergraduate degree in Spanish and Portuguese.
I have worked in a restaurant as a waitress since the age of 16 (I am now 21).
I was part of a dance school from the age of 4-18, where I took part in shows and exams obtaining grades up to intermediate level in ballet tap and modern. In my last few years at the dance school I also helped out with younger classes (ages 3-12), and in shows looking after the younger children.
My experience working with a range of ages has allowed me to understand that everyone responds differently to situations they are presented with, which is why I believe it is important that I tailor my classes to suit the individual.

I am a certified Canadian educator, and my teaching experience includes Primary Years Cambridge curriculum in English Language Arts, English Literature, Maths, Humanities and Global Perspectives for both Primary Years (Grades 3,4,6 and Lower Secondary. I also have experience teaching Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE) as well as Physical Education, and life skills for classes in both Primary, Lower and Upper Secondary.

My education philosophy is rooted in pedagogy which is focused on the empowerment of children, teachers and parents to support the full development of children and assist in maintaining a joyful environment in which children can thrive, learn and realize their potential in a fun way.

Why is this important? Well, firstly, a happier childhood in which children are equipped with a keen sense of themselves can help them to better transition into adulthood.

What I have realized is that a balance is required between academic learning and life skills which includes social, emotional learning. My work involves supporting a teaching approach which focuses on student and parent engagement working together to support the child's individual needs. In the classroom, it is supporting children to be engaged and motivated learners by focusing on a truly student-centered approach at their pace and level of understanding and moving towards their learning goals step by step. This approach not only builds tremendous self-confidence but also boosts the child's understanding that they are cared for and their personal identity is more than just their academic abilities; supporting the whole development of the child.

Upon recently completing a Masters of Arts in Childhood studies and Early Years, my autoethnographic dissertation on supporting well-being in international schools with third culture kids demonstrates that there is a need for a new approach towards well-being in schools. Well-being support is necessary for all children and cannot be compartmentalized but requires an integrated and unique approach.

The goal of my teaching approach is to support students to have a happy childhood by helping schools to support their student’s well-being in a more integrated and engaging way since our approaches towards children greatly impacts their personal development.
