I firmly believe that mathematics can not be learned passively. From my experience, mathematical concepts are best learned through "guided struggle". From my students I ask to actively participate in the learning process- I guide them through the process of problem-solving and in the process I'm correcting weakness in their knowledge.

Ik hou van de uitdaging om de inzichten in de wiskunde en wetenschappen over te brengen op de leerlingen en studenten. Enkel in privé les kan je de tijd nemen om een leering of student z'n redeneringen en aanpak in detail te volgen en bij te sturen om zo tot een "Aha!"-momentje te komen. De voldoening is dan altijd groot, zowel voor leerkracht als leerling!

Ik werk typisch in blokken van 2 uur. Afhankelijk van de noden, duiken we eerst in een stukje theorie om dan oefeningen te maken. Indien oefeningen moeilijk zijn, zet ik je in de start blokken en laat ik jou dat verder uitwerken in je eigen tijd. Zo gaan we efficiënt met de tijd om!

I am Rhune, 23 and am currently working on my master's degree in pure mathematics at Ghent University. I have been tutoring high school students for about five years. I prefer to do this online, but for students from Ghent (or those who can easily travel to Ghent), this can also be done face-to-face. I help motivated secondary school students and first-year university students master math instead of becoming overwhelmed by it. As a Flemish master's student in business engineering with a strong quantitative background, I emphasize clear explanations, plenty of practice, and targeted strategies.

In our classes we will:
Diagnose where things are going wrong (backlog from previous years, missed theory, exam stress).
Reconstruct key concepts step by step with intuitive examples.
Do lots of targeted exercises together so that you learn to recognize question types and avoid classic pitfalls.
Prepare efficiently for tests and exams with summaries, formula overviews, and exam-style questions.

I have experience tutoring students in topics such as functions and graphs, equations and inequalities, derivatives, probability and statistics, linear algebra, and basic calculus (depending on your level). I always adapt the pace and level to the student: some benefit from a slower pace to build confidence, while others want to progress more quickly and aim for the highest scores.
Lessons can be in Dutch or English, and we can work with your own coursework or with additional exercises I provide. The goal is for you to leave each lesson with more confidence, concrete insights, and a clear plan for what to practice until the next session.
