I am a violin teacher and violinist. Having taught the violin for 20 years and knowing in depth different instrumental techniques and different teaching methods, I can adapt my teaching to the needs, age and character of each student. About Me

I teach violin since 2001, to children from the age of 3 and even adults. I organize concerts for my students at least once a year. The love for music helps me develop a strong bond with my students that leads them to love the violin and rejoice in it. Classes are in French, English and Greek.

Education

Born in Thessaloniki. She took her first violin lessons with M. Mikaelidis and P. Arnaudov. She studied at the Faculty of Musical Sciences of the University of Macedonia (specialization of violin) with Professor D. Handrakis and at the Faculty of Musical Studies of the Ionian University (specialization of violin) with Professor S Gkikontis finishing his studies with the mention "very good". She continued and concluded her courses receiving in June 2008 the master of "musical interpretation at the violin" at the Ionian University with Professor S. Gkikontis. At the same time, she attended seminars with S. Kafantaris, A. Stankov, J. Vatikiotis, V. Milanova, V. Oistrach, I. Kravchenko, J. Leertouwer, N. Baltussen, E. Kawaguti, V. Beluska.

Experience / Qualifications

Has given many concerts in Greece as well as abroad (South Africa, Belgium, Germany, Japan, Italy, USA) getting rave reviews. She has collaborated as a soloist with the Musical Studies Orchestra of the Ionian University and the Volos Symphony Orchestra on the Beethoven Concerto, as well as with the Camerata Orchestra of the Megaron at Mozart's Concerto No. 4 under the direction of A. Myrat (pupil of Igor Markévich). She is a member of the Ionian String Quartet and the Ionian Baroque Ensemble. She has taught violin in the public and private sector in Greece from 2001 to 2012. Since 2013, she lives in Brussels and is a member of the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition, she teaches violin to children and adults.

Violinist graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, I have several years of educational experiences. I propose adapted courses for all levels. I taught at the conservatory, and in music school.
The courses are divided into several parts. The first is learning the basics (for beginners), the technique of the violin, then the consolidation of the notions of music theory and finally the discovery of pieces. I work in a fun, but demanding way while listening to students. My methods vary according to the needs of the students.

After studying at the A. Steffani Conservatory of Castelfranco Veneto in Italy where he obtained the highest distinction, Gabriele then completed his Master's degree in violin with distinction at the Royal Conservatory of Mons with M° Eliot Lawson and Wibert Aerts. During his training, Gabriele also studied with Ilya Grubert at the Fondazione Musicale Santa Cecilia in Italy, Elina Vahala at the Hochschule Fur Musik Karlsruhe and took masterclasses with Ivry Gitlis, Stefano Pagliani, Elisabeth Perry, Igor Volochine, Vineta Sareika, Kati Sebestyén and Chouchane Sironossian. In 2018, Gabriele won the audition for the Jeugd Antwerp Simphony Orchestra (ASO) and for the Nationaal Jeugd Orkest (NJO); in 2019 he won the audition for European Union Youth Orchestra (Euyo) and Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza (OTO) and is also selected in 2020 for the Young Belgian Strings as well as the Antwerp Philarmonic Orchestra. He has collaborated with several orchestras in Italy and Belgium, including the Boho Strings Orchestra in Antwerp, the Ataneres Ensemble in Louvain, the Chapelle Musicale de Tournai in Tournai, the Assai Symphonia in Hasselt, the Orchestra of Archi Italiani and the Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, Italy.

Very involved in the chamber music repertoire, Gabriele founded in 2018 with the pianist Julien Lejeune the Duo Aréthuse, in which they explore the romantic French and contemporary Italian repertoire, in search of an interpretation marked by accuracy, simplicity and of modernity. They are at the initiative of the creation in 2019 of the Hellens Ensemble, consisting of a string quartet, a piano and a lyrical singer, an ensemble with which they are interested in Belgian music and more particularly to the repertoire with voice.

In my classes I aim to transmit first of all my passion and love for music.
I like to prepare a personalized programme adapted to the level and exigencies of each pupil.
I also aim to include some violin duos, to be played with me during the lessons, as I believe playing with other musicians is one of the best ways to enjoy music and learn useful musical and technical skills at the same time.
Another essential factor in my classes is correct and natural posture while playing, to let music heal our souls instead of hurting our bodies! ;) I have been practicing Yoga for a few years, and have experienced the importance of good posture and targeted light stretching, especially for younger players in a phase of growth and change.
I like to help pupils to develop good technical skills in a fun way, always applying technique to targeted repertoire and keeping in mind that technique is nothing but a means of expressing ourselves through music.
