Programming music with Max and electronic music with Ableton

Max is a visual programming language to create audio (and video) art. Almost like with LEGO, you connect different building blocks with each other and create an audio (or video) circuit.
I have years of experience in making programs in Max and want to share this knowledge. I start from the basics and make sure that the programming is also theoretically substantiated: I want you not only to put something in, but also to understand why something works. That extra knowledge helps you work faster as you move forward.
For a program that focuses more on audio, I use Ableton. I have been using this program for my own music production for about ten years and know the program inside out.
Extra information
You need your own laptop as well as a license for Max. You can buy a monthly license or a permanent one on the cycling74 website. I recommend starting with a monthly license.
You can buy an intro license for Ableton on the Ableton website.

About Me
I am a sound artist and researcher. I often work with extra-musical information as a starting point. For example, I made a program with Max to convert stock market prices into music. I have also made large installations, for example Outros Registros about police brutality in Rio de Janeiro.
I have lived and worked in different countries and therefore have a wide network of contacts in the art world.
Education
Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Porto, Portugal — PhD in Interactive Arts
ESMAE - Porto, Portugal — Masters in Composition and Music Theory
Lemmensinstituut, Leuven, Belgium — Bachelor in Composition
Experience / Qualifications
I have a lot of experience in applied sound art with sonification (converting data into music) as a specialty. I like to work in interdisciplinary projects for example video with music.

This applied music theory course is for any passionate musician, regardless of level.

It aims to broaden his musical knowledge and abilities by understanding music as a whole. The goal is to be able to decode and understand how a music (not only of classical style, but also pop, jazz, rock, electro, ...) was composed, and to be able to use interesting harmonies oneself. and solid in a personal composition / production.

It is made up of two main topics:

* Harmony (building chords, understanding chord diagrams, learning to Harmonize a given melody, the possibility or not of using these Harmonies in a given style, etc.).
But also understand the key, how to build a scale, how to navigate between different keys, how to transform a classic chord suite into another style?
Harmony is a course open to all and all levels, no prerequisites to have. Any passionate musician will find interest in it, that's guaranteed.

* Writing is a much more targeted course, which is already an introduction to classical composition. In this branch, we will develop the rules of classical writing (parallel fifths and octaves, false relations etc, ...) within the framework of an exercise based on a given melody or bass (in the first case it will be necessary to invent harmonization and compose a bass, in the second, it will be necessary to invent the harmonization and the melody).

This course can also be used by academy or conservatory students who wish to prepare for the writing exam, or simply to deepen their knowledge.
