I am a professional full-time Chinese Mandarin teacher from the North of China where Mandarin comes from. I have been teaching for about 10 years as a teacher. I have my own school and website for studying Chinese. Students' ages are from 3 to adults. They are from all over the world. You can study with me online /come to my office/ Go-home lessons. Classes can be one-to-one or group classes. I have been helping numerous people learn to speak Chinese and do exam HSK. Children always have fun learning Mandarin with me. I have never come late to all of my classes for more than 10 years. For children's classes, I prepare songs, videos, cartoons, teaching and explaining at the same time, They learn really fast and never feel bored when they are excited with a fun teacher and materials. I believe that interest is the best teacher. So I try my best to prepare before classes and send materials after classes to students. The classes can be taught in Chinese, English.

With a master's degree in Sinology (KULeuven, 2015), years of professional experience in the field and 6 years of experience in the Chinese Minor bachelor programme and evening courses at VUB, I'm confident that my courses offer an efficient and comprehensive path to Chinese language proficiency. This class provides tailor-made Chinese language courses for any age. By default, the course focusses on oral communication (listening and speaking skills) with a large amount of interaction. Reading and writing is available (and recommended), but optional. As a non-native speaker, I know what it is to learn Chinese at a later age. Textbooks, workbook exercises and additional character writing exercises are included in the price.

I run private lessons, where all levels are welcome. But if you’re a total beginner then I offer basic classes to help you find the way to get into it. I develop diverse methods of teaching for the students. For the around 5-8 years old kids, I would like to set certain games to play with them, thereby the kids can learn the new language during the interaction and communication. In this way, different media, like color pictures, puppets, or storybooks are essential to make the course very attractive. For the teenager or advanced students, a structuralized teaching content based on scenarios or textbook could help the students to develop their language capacity efficiently in different aspects – listening, reading, speaking, and writing. Besides, I would like to give a deeper perspective for the Chinese- not only learning the language from the textbooks, but also the knowledge of the language, the culture, and the literature. Also, based on your need and situation, we choose different textbooks and make a personal teaching plan for you.

With my thorough knowledge of the Chinese language and culture, we will search together for the appropriate way to master the language. In my experience, everyone learns in a different way, so we will find out together what is the most fun! I graduated in 2017 as a Sinologist at Ghent University (Chinese language and culture). I also obtained a master's degree at Sichuan University (四川大学) (2018). After that, I spent a few years in China. In addition to a basic course with an emphasis on oral, I create lessons that go beyond just language. Chinese language is embedded in culture and history, so we also take a moment to reflect on that. I have experience with private lessons for adults who move to China as expats, but the lessons are flexible and for all ages! Lessons: I use a basic Chinese course but there is a lot we can fill in ourselves. What kind of series/films do you like to watch? Is there any music you like to listen to? Through these questions I can recommend certain Chinese music and series that we can work with. For example, instead of homework I will give a film to watch, this way we learn through absorption instead of forcing ourselves to remember everything. If it is fun, everything sticks better! Would you like to focus more on speaking instead of writing or vice versa? That is possible, in which situations would you like to use Chinese? For work or for a trip? That way we can adapt the lessons to personal wishes. Once we have progressed a bit further, I also organize lessons and dinners with Chinese friends in Ghent or Brussels, so we can practice with real "native speakers". My lessons are usually 16 times, 1-2 hours for each time, with variations according to your learning goals. The specific lesson time is decided by both of us before each lesson starts. Before teaching, we need to work out a tailored schedule for your study. So tell me what your goal is and I’ll make a plan for you. The teaching plan will come into effect only with your consent. Note that after each lesson you may be required to finish some homework to test where you are, and you should send it to my email before next lesson. This may sound like strict but you don’t need to worry, because I’ll make it easy to handle and you’ll also feel a sense of achievement.
