Hi there! My name is Vivianne and I am a Dutch Teacher. I have lived in different parts of the country and at the moment I am based in Amsterdam. The Dutch lively capital with more bikes than people, beautiful canals and nice bars. I have a background in marketing, languages and international communication and would love to help you find your way in The Netherlands. First of all by learning the language! Hi! My name is Vivianne and I am a Dutch teacher. Because of my education in International Business & Languages and International Business Communication I will not only teach you a language, I will teach you how to communicate in the interesting language called Dutch!

Hi! My name is Vivianne. I have been living in Amsterdam for two years now and I do love this city! I'm originally Dutch and I have lived in several countries (different places in The Netherlands, Hong Kong, Peru). That feeling of entering a new city is amazing; all those new people, places and beautiful spots but it can also make you a bit insecure about your decisions. Did you choose the right studies or job? You moved for love but what's next? What about new friends? You're not alone, many people around you experience the same. Next to my own experiences, I work as Dutch teacher (Dutch as a second language) and therefore know how 'newcomers' experience their new life. I want to help people feeling happier and content with their decisions. I have a background in (international) marketing, languages and intercultural communication and due to this combination I have a depth intercultural understanding.

I was born in Istanbul in 1983. I started teaching Turkish while studying Turkish Language and Literature at university. I worked in a language school and at universities. I have been teaching Turkish professionally for more than 16 years. I also taught Turkish for 5 years when I was a university student. In 2018, I obtained a TESOL certificate and also began teaching English.

I teach both adults and children. Creating a comfortable learning environment for my students is one of my top priorities. If you would like to learn Turkish or English in a consistent and structured way, I would be happy to work with you.

I hold firmly to two main principles: creating a comfortable space for learning and building an encouraging atmosphere.

My students often describe me as patient, positive, and well-organised. Over time, I’ve found my own way of making Turkish feel easier, more enjoyable, and more practical to learn.

I love shaping each lesson around my students’ interests, needs, and learning styles. I adapt my teaching to the needs of students with special conditions, such as ADHD and OCD.

In my lessons, you’ll never feel afraid of making mistakes. Before long, you’ll start noticing them on your own and correcting yourself naturally.

Even though I use a communicative approach, my lessons are supported by a solid understanding of grammar, as Turkish has a very different structure.

I use the course book set prepared by Istanbul University. It follows a strategic approach to learning Turkish and includes all language skills—reading, grammar, writing, listening, watching, and speaking—from A1 to C2. All of these skills are essential for conversation.

I teach English for the A1 and A2 levels.

The workbook offers many exercises for homework or revision, and I support the book with my own authentic materials. I also use an interactive board that you can view anytime, and you can edit it as well. Repetition-based speaking practice plays an important role in my lessons.

I speak English well, and a bit of Italian, and I have also studied Persian and German grammar. I am interested in literature.

As non-Dutch speaking parents, it is certainly not easy to teach your children Dutch or help them become more fluent in the new language. Who wants some extra exercise for their kids? I would like to help you with that. As their vocabulary expands and their sentences become more fluent, your children will become more confident. A good command of the Dutch language is certainly to their advantage, both now and in the future.

Do your children need some help with their homework, especially with their Dutch, then I can help with that.

Even as non-native-speaking adults, it is sometimes difficult to have enough exercise. That is why adults who want to make progress in speaking the Dutch language are welcome here! We can practice the everyday language together. Conversing is the best way to learn a new language.

Anyone want to learn Persian? Then I am here to help you with that. Here too, I mainly work on communication.

I use several methods which are specially conceived to teach Dutch to people who have a different mother tongue. I really like to use methods out of the ordinary like role games or methods with which you learn while playing. All these adapted to the student's situation of course. As I learned myself a couple of other languages, it is easy for me to detect difficulties a student can encounter and adapt the way of learning. I can teach in English, French, German and Russian.

Each class is tailored to the individual's requirements and/or needs. Want to improve career opportunities; learn or improve business Dutch, which will be the focus of each class.

Taking time to practise speaking the language you are learning is crucial in the development of your active vocabulary. This will allow you to communicate with greater fluency and confidence.
You can suggests topics or discuss a variety of topics like hobbies and passions, work and travel or anything that you would like to work on. Throughout the class I will keep track of any and all vocabulary that you were unfamiliar with and go over them with you as well as send the list to you at the end of the class, to keep track of words and expressions as you encounter them.
I have several games that I believe to be well suited for the learning of vocabulary. These will add an element of fun to the process of learning.
