It is my conviction that the most pleasure can be obtained from playing the piano when you can not only reproduce a piece but also improvise with it. Interpreting and re-enacting a classical piece gives a great kick, but on the other hand it is really useful to get a dose of insight into harmony in order to learn to play more efficiently from the outside, or to make your own variation of it. And I think this can be taught right away on the keyboard for the beginner or the advanced, with whatever piece you like to hear, of whatever genre. About Me

Intussen pakweg 15 jaar geleden beëindigde ik de academie met een goed, doch gemengd gevoel. Ik kon na lang oefenen enkele moeilijkere stukken naspelen, maar wist eerlijk gezegd niet altijd waarom ik zou verder oefenen. Ik bleef wat spelen nadien en zoeken: mijn interesse ging gaandeweg naar componisten zoals Mussorgsky, Scriabin, ... Waarom was me toen niet duidelijk. Ik begon dan op dag meer naar jazz te luisteren en wou het ook naspelen. Het voelde even als compleet opnieuw beginnen Alweer een lange weg te gaan. Echter, nooit was mijn interesse groter dan nu in piano en muziek in het algemeen. Oorzaak daarvan was het mezelf verdiepen in harmonieleer, akkoordenleer, soorten toonladders, de jazz-aanpak van piano spelen die toch wat complementair staat op de klassieke aanpak staat zoals de academie ze me leerde. Beter weten wat je speelt, snappen waarom je iets mooi vindt, makkelijker moeilijke zaken van buiten leren en improviseren plots haalbaar zien zijn er het dankbare resultaat van voor mij persoonlijk.
