I am a first year master's student at EPFL, in biology. I offer support courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology. The course offers a possibility of help for students having difficulties in the courses offered. The student will find a framework where they can ask these questions, discuss methodologies and improve. Putting my knowledge at the service of other people is something I like to share. I quickly noticed that the problem often comes from understanding the exercises given rather than the course itself, so here's how I like to proceed: I always start by first making sure that the principle of the course is understood by focusing on the points that block, and then we can start looking at the exercises, given by the teacher, that pose a problem. The goal is that at the end of the rehearsal course, the student has in his hands cards with the different methods used to solve all the possible types of exercises, especially those requested in the exam. I myself take care of preparing these sheets during the rehearsal course in order to summarize all the methods acquired.

At university, I have been an assistant in Chemistry for the first years of EPFL for a few years as well as for a course linking mathematics and electronics, called Signals and Systems. So I am used to teaching and explaining concepts to students with difficulties. I also give private lessons to students passing the Swiss maturity or the French baccalaureate. The methodology is the key to success for a student in the first year of medicine at the University of Geneva. It must be understood that this methodology is based on a fine balance between "being systematic", (ie ensuring all learning objectives) and "being effective" (ie working on the topics that most often come under discussion). In terms of science learning, I base my courses entirely on multiple-choice questions of two types: -Quest instructional questions: the goal is to check your understanding of the learning objectives; -question "type" exam: to prepare you for the level of difficulty required and get used to answer questions in 2 minutes on the day of the exam. I finished my Doctorate in Physics at EPFL and now I teach Maths, Physics, Chemistry and English to secondary I and secondary II students.
