Hi, my name is Carla and I am from the UK. I have 16 years experience as a primary teacher in international schools and several years experience as a private tutor. I can develop conversation skills, phonics, reading and writing development. I build up a great rapport with children and my aim is for the child to enjoy the lesson. I am originally from the UK. I previously lived in Hong Kong for 10 years, followed by the Netherlands for 8 years. I now live in Aberdeen, Scotland. I am married with a 13 year old daughter. I love to meet children and adults from around the world, as I can teach them English, but they also teach me about their interesting cultures. I am an accomplished tutor who specialises is tailor made lessons for children and adults.

Understanding what makes a powerful and effective essay is a key part of writing and nailing those exams up ahead. My lessons will involve reviewing my student's writing and working together to find elements that need improvement. We will focus on essay planning, cohesiveness, originality, and exam technique. My sessions will not be lectures and require active participation and effort from myself and my student. If needed, I will set small amounts of homework to encourage even more progress.

During my final years in school, I was responsible for leading tutoring sessions for younger year groups, and provided one-on-one tutoring for several of my A-Level classmates. I also achieved the top mark in the world for OxfordAQA English Literature in my 2023 A-Levels.
