I am passionate about teaching because I believe in the transformative power of music education. Having taught drums since 2013, I have witnessed firsthand how music can enhance students' lives by fostering creativity, discipline, and confidence. I am driven by the joy of helping students become more musically aware, enabling them to express themselves and connect with others through rhythm and sound.
Teaching allows me to share the techniques and knowledge I've gained over the years, from foundational drum rudiments to advanced techniques like push-pull and bounce. I find fulfillment in guiding students of all ages and levels, helping them grow as musicians and individuals. Whether it’s a beginner taking their first steps in music or a more advanced student honing their skills, I am committed to providing a supportive and inspiring learning environment.
Through my experience as an instructor at The Music Lab and my role as a percussion instructor for concert bands in schools, I have seen the positive impact that dedicated teaching can have. My desire to teach is rooted in a deep love for music and a commitment to nurturing the next generation of musicians.

About Me
Sam is a drummer and educator with over a decade of experience in teaching, mentoring, and performing. His musical journey began in 2009 when, at the age of 13, he discovered his love for drumming as a percussionist in his secondary school’s Concert Band. This pivotal moment ignited a lifelong dedication to music and laid the foundation for his career.
A graduate of LASALLE College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music, majoring in Jazz Performance, Sam is also a recipient of the Jazz Association (Singapore) Music Scholarship in 2021. He further honed his craft through the Mosaic Jazz Fellows program, where he trained under notable mentors such as Joshua Wan, Andrew Lim, Chok Kerong, and Soh Wen Ming.
Sam played at prominent local venues like the Esplanade, Blu Jaz Café, and Cool Cats. He has also worked with Litmus Jazz Ensemble and performed in collaboration with the Jazz Association Singapore.
Beyond performing, Sam has dedicated his career to teaching. Since 2013, he has taught at primary and secondary schools as a percussion instructor. He has also worked with music schools, as well as teaching privately, sharing his love for rhythm and empowering students to find their musical voice.
