If you are looking to have fun on the violin while learning skills and new songs that you love, I am your gal! Combining fun fiddle tunes with popular songs and the Suzuki method (we will tailor our lessons to music you love), I promise to get you loving your instrument and playing any songs that make you feel joyful and alive - for isn't that what music is all about? We will also use games, exercises, stretching and warmups to get feeling comfortable, relaxed and confident.
I have over ten years experience as a violin teacher as well as an elementary, middle school and high school teacher, and I am also a professional violinist who has played in bands, duos and have my own solo project. If you are also interested in learning how to make money from your violin by starting a band or joining others groups, I can help you market yourself to get out there with your music. We can work on what you want to do because I am here to help you find joy through music, whatever that looks like for you!

I am a positive, encouraging and fun teacher with 10+ years of experience teaching the violin and having had some amazing teachers who taught and inspired me. I want to find out from you what music you love, how you learn best and how we can tailor your program specifically to you. I like to combine all different types of songs and different activities, exercises, games and warm-ups into the lesson to help you increase your confidence, your ability and your joy in playing the violin.

I have taught all ranges of learners before -including neuro-diverse learners, total beginners, adults who played when they were young and have always regretted not keeping it up...so whatever your reason to pick up the beautiful instrument that is the violin, I am here to support you along your journey. And I promise, there will be laughter and fun along the way because that's just how I roll! 😊

I have played in chamber groups, orchestras, Celtic folk bands, trios, duos and am now focusing on my own solo project with violin, voice, guitar and loop pedal. I am a multi-instrumentalist but violin is my first love, and I have played and performed professionally full-time now for over 6 years.

Do you want to learn how to play the violin or improve your skills?

My name is Sofia, I'm a Portuguese violinist who started learning the violin at the age of 8. I'm currently studying at Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerpen and
about to finish my Master's degree.

I'm very eager to transmit my music passion to others! I have experience teaching various levels of knowledge and can give the basics to music theory if you don't have them already. It is never to late to learn something new :)

I'm also available as a violin tutor, meaning I can help your children to study for the violin lessons (price to be discussed).
