About Me

Education

Diploma in Cello from the Prague Conservatoire and the Janacek Academy of Music. Further cello studies at the University of Leeds, the Eton Cello Master Classes and the Toho Gakuen Academy in Japan.

As a soloist Frank has performed at many festivals in Algeria, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, Liberland, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Sweden, Turkey, Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom.

As a masters student at the Royal Academy of Music, London, I had the opportunity to teach all ages and levels, hence developing a steady program to make a student evolve while enjoying the instrument and the music.

You will receive professional one-to-one cello lessons. I am going to show you how to play the cello, how to create a beautiful sound and practice technically difficult parts. You will play several pieces, at first easy and from time to time more difficult and virtuoso.
I am focussing on conveying the joy of music and responding to the individual needs of my students.

I can't imagine living my life without this beautiful instrument and have been studying for more than 20 years already.

I can help you learn proper posture, expression, technique, how to save energy, how to stay relaxed and enjoy the music!

After just finishing my baccalaureate in cello performance and education, and my postgraduate in performance, I am even more able to help my students excel. I've worked with ages 4 - 70 and all my students have had wonderful progress. I've taught hobbyists, aspiring professionals and competitors.

With over 15 years experience, I have taught some 10,000 hours of one-to-one instrumental lessons. I have taught over 100 individual students ranging in age from four to 75+; from beginners to diploma-level, both amateurs and professionals.

I attended the Purcell School before moving to Germany where I studied for my Diploma. I gained a Bachelor of Music degree from City of Basel Music Academy in Switzerland and Master of Music degree from the University of Music & Performing Arts Stuttgart in Germany, graduating with the highest honours for both degrees. I successfully finished my Postgraduate Artist Diploma studies at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance.

With 4 years of experience, I’m confident in taking on both young and adult students, from beginners all the way to diploma level, guiding their journey throughout. Learning the cello should be both fun and rewarding.

I am a cellist, composer and improviser specialising in working with string players to unlock and devlop creative potential. I will work with you to deveop a bespoke course to help you develop skills in improvisation.

Areas covered:
Jazz improvisation - Blues, Standards, Harmony, Bass Lines, Finding Chords, Building and Creating Solos, Elarnig repertoire.
Baroque Imrpovisation - Ground Bass, Partimento realisation and developing cadenzas for classical repertoire
Free/Folk and other styles - we can explore any styles of improvisation, and discuss how to develop your skills.

I am a professor of Imrpovisation at the Royal Colege of Music in London, and a composer and performer of my own music internationally.

I believe that every student has unlimited potential, and I enjoy adapting to different personalities. Individuality, passion and confidence are some of the important keys to success. I start with technical exercises, and we work on pieces in parallel to develop musicality and phrasing. My interest is mainly classical, but I can teach other styles, e.g. film music, pop and jazz. I can also give music theory lessons if necessary
