Approaching from a true native's perspective, I instruct and assist with both educational and business English in a multi-faceted nature covering a wide range of areas including comprehension, conversation, grammar, and situational skills, in addition to working on general language skills and accent training. My past & present clients have included: professionals from all four major EU institutions, the Belgian government, the UNHCR, various NGOs, and musicians, journalists, engineers, as well as a variety of other professions in addition to traditional students. I have had over 75+ repeat students on Apprentus (which recently changed their algorithm to only display the last six months). As well, I can provide extensive help and training with the EPSO, IELTS, and TOEFL exams. I have also written, edited or proofread a variety of academic papers, theses, applications, CVs, and other documents for numerous satisfied academic and professional clients. I have spent my entire childhood and adult life in the United States before completing a master's degree in Political Science and European Politics at KU Leuven. I have an extensive knowledge and experience of English grammar and literature, as well as current and past working experience in journalism (Anti-Competition Law and European Policy at the Policy and Regulatory Report) and both European and American politics. I also handle correction of text, editing, proofreading and ghostwriting, with weekly and monthly rates possible.

I am a British native english speaker working in Brussels, looking to help anyone who wants to improve either their spoken or written english in a professional or social context. My goal is to be flexible and focus on exactly what you want to improve, having some experience in privately tutoring English to French and Dutch children before. I have a B2/C1 level certificate in French so if needed the class can be taught in French.

Building math and English skills is very important in primary, as students learn the fundamental principles of both disciplines that will develop as the years progress. Having a one-to-one tutor, learning and practicing the core elements of math and language skills is essential. Since I believe that the learning environment is one of the keys to successful language learning, I endeavor to make students feel comfortable and content in my lessons: to ask questions if they are unsure and keep an easy but rewarding pace of learning. Depending on how my students feel they learn English most effectively, I adapt my lessons to use materials that give them the best results possible. For instance, some students find the continuity of a coursebook effective, while others prefer to be more flexible with articles and podcasts. I know from experience that every student is unique.

In the case of tutoring, I base my lessons on the subject seen by the student by explaining to him in another way with many examples and by making him practice as much as possible. In case of learning the basics, I have set up my own totally interactive method so that the student can practice and during which I speak almost only in English to be close to immersion during the lessons. I have facilitated workshops and given classes throughout my career all over the world. English pronunciation is essential these days because English is spoken everywhere and all the time. I followed specialized training such as the verb tonal method, Feldenkrais or mental coaching. We are therefore going to work in a slightly different way by combining articulatory techniques, movement, rhythm, intonation, warming up of the jaw and tongue, stretching of the neck, neck and shoulders to arrive to very fast results.

I specialise in tutoring English for European Union professional exams (e.g., AST - AD promotion exams and 'retour' interpretation exams), for other exams (SAT, GMAT, GRE, FCE, CAE, CPE, IELTS. TOEFL), for thesis submission, and for other professional work, particularly English for auditors, legal, financial and ambassadorial advisors, business people, project managers, salespeople, physicians, scientists, and academic students. All courses are individually tailored to the student's needs and students are invited to supply their own materials from work. Courses usually focus on passing an exam or on achieving a sense being able to work comfortably in English with native or non-native English speakers.

Hola! My name is Laia and I am a student from Spain studying a MA in political science in Brussels. Therefore, my mother tongue is Spanish and Catalan. Moreover, I've had the opportunity to live and study abroad in countries like the United States, Germany and France and I have achieved the C2 level in english (Cambridge title), and the basic levels in French and German. I really like teaching languages since I believe learning idioms is a really useful skill and I can totally adapt to every type of class that the student desires (it can be online or at home, I could focus more on Speaking or the desired area, and I could also teach more than one student at a time).
