This course is for students of the Spanish language who want to improve their writing and spelling in the language. The intermediate-advanced level handles this essayistic and critical commentary using Latin American literature as a generator of ideas and conversation. We will see authors such as Julio Cortázar, Jorge Luis Borges, Clarice Lispector, José Rafael Pocaterra, and Roberto Arlt, among others. Some topics to discuss would be the influence of the conquest on the Latin American literary style, fantastic and monstrous literature, and literature as a tool of social criticism.
