Born in Brazil I discovered teaching at a young age (20) and have never stopped. My mother was a teacher of Dutch and I sometimes think this is more than a profession : it is a vocation.
Because my English was not good enough my father sent me to London to study English and this language became my third passion, now it shares a place with Dutch and Portuguese. I have lived in the UK five years (London and Plymouth) and loved it.
After this British adventure, I studied Portuguese in Portugal because I had an opportunity there to work & study, which helped me a lot to learn the essence of grammar and literature, but my 19 years experience in teaching makes it complete.
Being a spokesperson of a Dutch Ministry I developed my Dutch further and further to a very high level ofcommunication.. 10 years ago I started to teach Dutch to expats, were struggling with the difficult brekthrough after reaching level A-1. This is really my ‘niche’.
Nowadays I teach more and more Dutch to Expats and Foreign Students, but it is a tight race with Portuguese.
As a teacher I try to explain the how of grammatical topics, to keep it interesting. Sometimes with for instance a historical annotation, which students love to learn too. I will also teach about our complicated social culture, this is interwoven in the course.

Oi Tudo bem? My name is Marcelo and I am from São Paulo.
I teach Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese in The Hague and Rotterdam. Fortunately, I can combine my university studies and 23 years of practical teaching experience in such a way that the lessons are well-founded and stimulating.
I have lived and studied in Brazil and Portugal (Coimbra), so I am a native speaker, with a lot of knowledge of the associated culture. By twist of fate, I am also bilingual, so I can explain grammar in Dutch and vice versa. My training is focused on speaking skills.

Learning Portuguese for business or urgently (within 10 working days) is also possible. I have a Chamber of Commerce and VAT number.
