About Me
Hei! I am Wei from Taiwan, currently working as a pianist, cellist, film composer, and tutor in Oslo. Well, education has been a huge passion of mine, even though I very much enjoy performing on stage, it still excites me. I've started tutoring since I was 19, so I guess that it has been 8 years since then. The age of my students is from 5 to 70 years old. So never feel that you are too young or old to learn an instrument.Music has taught me to handle pressure, facing my own emotions, and finding peace in myself. Therefore, there is a part of me eager to share my experience and knowledge with people.
I love children, and I will see myself as a patient, easy-going and interesting person. My goal is to create a safe, relaxing place for you to learn and explore.

Weiting is an excellent teacher. I enjoyed my first class with her teaching. She is very creative and patient, always gives me encouragement. I'm looking forward to our next class.
Improvising is a good way to find peace in yourself, at the same time a great way to let out your emotions. There is no form in music. In that way, there is no need if you know how to play an instrument or not. You just have to know how to make sound, for example singing, clapping, or tapping on a bow. We will explore sound together, and let it become your language.
Composition in another way is very much connected to improvisation. Music theory is provided if you need it. We can either compose on the music sheet or on the software. We will find out exactly what you need help with!

CLASSICAL, JAZZ/ MODERN PIANO AND RHYTHM COMPLEXITYThe older I get, the more I love. Especially during these times of immense ugliness and hate, wars and conflict, music- that's always been all about love - is the home I keep returning to. To me, mentoring someone is all about sharing the love for the instrument, thirst about the material, desire to explore new musical paths and respect for whatever happens whilst playing.
Not only we will explore technical paths and understand rhythm under a totally different light but also communicate through improvisation and modal principles. My goal is for you to love the instrument a bit more, music a bit more and as Antoine de Saint-Exupéry said "Perhaps love is the process of my leading you gently back to yourself".
So let's explore together the painstakingly beautiful process of music through the inner child.

Music Theory and Ear Training Lessons for All Levels and NeedsMy teaching method is carefully tailored to the specific needs of each student, regardless of the subject we are working on (music theory, cello, music history, analysis, conducting, etc.). The pace of learning is always set by the student, ensuring that each lesson aligns realistically with their goals and interests.
Whether you’re looking for a more flexible, amateur approach — open to diverse content — or require a rigorous plan oriented toward exams, auditions, or academic improvement, I design a personalized educational pathway.
My approach is rooted in a highly practical vision of learning, based on the educational model in which I was trained during my master’s degrees in Conducting (Antwerp) and Historical Cello (Brussels). I understand teaching as a dynamic process where deep understanding takes precedence over rote memorization.

PLACES, FEES
- Locations: Geneva-Lausanne-Friborg-Neuchâtel-Montreux-Bâle-Sion-Sierre-Morges-Bienne. But currently, only by videoconference in accordance with national recommendations on Covid. These sessions also seem to be perfectly unanimous since they have the advantages of direct (example: quality of the interaction), without its disadvantages (ex: loss of travel time), with additional advantages (ex: of notes on the chat, which can be reread afterwards). In this context, these videoconference sessions for which you have requested me, seem to arouse a certain enthusiasm (and a certain enthusiasm). At your request, I therefore continue to offer them.

Improvisation for beginners and intermediates (any instrument)For many people improvisation is a scary word and having to improvise in a group or band is an alarming prospect. However, this really does not need to be the case. As long as you have a basic knowledge of how to play your instrument you will be able to improvise. Once you know the principle of how chords are formed you will soon be improvising with ease.
If you play a keyboard instrument you will be able to improvise your own pieces and be able to entertain your friends at a moments notice. On the other hand if you play in a band or a group you will be well equipped to do a real 'jam' session.
Whether you play a single line instrument (flute, saxophone, trumpet, violin etc.) or keyboard instruments, this class is for you.

Cello lessons from Bach to jazz to improvisationWhat is important to me in class?
Students and teachers should meet at eye level. It's important to me to create an atmosphere in which both feel comfortable and no one feels forced to do anything.
Where do I come from musically?
It has always been important to me to exploit all the possibilities that my instrument can offer. To be honest, I'm not finished yet, the cello has so many facets to discover! I've tried many different styles. I am currently studying a master's degree in contemporary music at the Basel University of Music. I completed my bachelor's degree in education in Freiburg. This gives me a good basis for teaching the instrument in a playful way and for eliciting creativity from the students.
Can you also find me on stage?
Yes, mostly with my indie-pop band. We write our own songs, and I'm usually responsible for a good bassline :)
But also with Percaso String Quartet, with whom we only play string quartet works by women.
Or in Ensemble IPSO, a music theater project in which we try to blend the boundaries between music, theater and dance.
And always with solo performances at vernissages.
I have a solidarity pricing system, meaning you give me whatever you can around the stated amount. If this applies to you, feel free to write.
Lessons at the student’s home and preferably in Riehen.

Classical and modern cello classes in BarcelonaHello! I've been teaching continuously for over 10 years, and I'd like to explain what you can expect from a class with me.
Personalized approach: The most important thing is to know what you want to achieve. I will tailor the lessons to your needs: playing for pleasure at home is not the same as preparing for entrance exams (although always with the same rigor). Your goals will influence the methodology, the organization of your studies, the repertoire, and so on.
Relaxed (but rigorous) environment: Once you've defined your goals, classes will be dynamic and pressure-free. Note! "Relaxed" doesn't mean undemanding; we'll just avoid military methods—especially given my personality and sense of humor.
Music, not just notes: My methods are very dynamic, with a special emphasis on hearing and musicality. No "read, play, and turn the page." I avoid approaches obsessed with reading sheet music without memorizing, listening, or understanding what is being played. I want you to own your performance and make artistic decisions. Warning! I might even make you sing.
No stylistic barriers: Thanks to my training in Jazz and Modern Music, I give equal importance to all genres. Adapting to your tastes, we'll go from baroque to blues, from Haydn to bebop... or even Michael Jackson. Why not?
If you identify with this approach, contact me! Learning the cello is a pleasure, and I'd love to share it with you!
