English as a Second Language lower intermediate to Business English.
English has become the lingua franca of much of the world and has become hugely important in the IT world.
I have dealt with mostly teenagers and young adults over the years preparing for exams or in summer schools but I now prefer to concentrate on business, and conversational English.
Having recently completed the CELTA training (entirely on line with real students from Japan to Brazil) I like to follow a structured approach to lessons and have become very adept at using Zoom to teach with, though I am rather looking forward to get back into the classroom and teach in person.

About Me
I've taken part in concerts, competitions & fundraisers from an early age - mostly as a musician or as the organiser of small events and simply love working with people.Being involved in teaching (dinghy-sailing, archery & music) means I'm well used to dealing with people to motivate and help them see and develop a different outlook on life while learning essential life skills. I've always been considered a 'people-person' and have always enjoyed trying to bring people (young and old) to their full potential be it through music, outdoor activities or simply how to feel good about themselves. I believe the best way to each is to stimulate a spark for learning in the pupil and to nurture that spark into a flame of the love of learning that will outlast any school.
I'm a musician (mostly Irish baroque and traditional music) and a bow-maker for medieval war-bows (longbows) and give talks on the life and times of medieval archers.
I have a license to sail (commercially) all boats up to 20 meters and an advanced PADI diving licence and enjoy driving my Deauville 650cc motorbike.
I enjoy walking in nature and regularly take people with me on lead nature-walks, with a special interest in bat-walks and socio-historic trails.
I consider myself a life-long learner.

Experience / Qualifications
I have been a teacher in one capacity or another since I started helping out at the local music school as a teenager, and when in my twenties travelling Europe in a group I regularly gave conversational classes in the colleges we were performing in, and then also in Amsterdam University, where friends were taught. They, in fact encouraged me to take a TEFL Diploma course, and from then on, I have regularly taught privately, in the Netherlands or in Ireland, and for five years at the Youghal International School, Co Cork, Ireland.I've also had experience teaching in (observed) classes in E.Germany, Hungary and BDR, before returning to Ireland where I've taught formally in primary, secondary and post secondary schools.
2000 - 2014: Managing and promoting our accommodation and music school while running it in a sustainable way, we won the E.U. Flower award, one of 125 in the world. Also short-listed for Tourism Business Challenge 2010. 2014 Green Innovation & Future Technology award for Outstanding Contribution to Sustainable Tourism; University of Bangor, Wales, UK. Glenribbeen Eco Lodge was awarded 4 petals (2010) in the Portuguese 5-Petal Eco Accommodation Scheme as recognition for our continuing work on developing Ireland as an eco-friendly accommodation destination.
I also take people on nature walks - with a special interest in bats, and I teach music, and medieval archery and simply love getting people to try to reach their full potential. Even whilst working as a tour guide I loved to teach songs to my guests as we travelled.
Though I've only recently passed the CELTA, I already have years of experience teaching in the classroom, both formally and informally.

Excellent explanation, nice contact

I take all students from beginner to experienced musicians (who often need coaching in deportment and/or bowing technique) and encourage proper traditional Irish style.
I teach aurally and written music using enough music theory to pass Irish state examinations in either TTCT (traditional) all levels, or up to RICM (classical) to level 4.
While keeping lessons lighthearted and fun the idea is to quickly build up a repertoire of tunes that allow the learner to 'sit-in' on sessions as quickly as possible while also learning how to learn so one can pick up tunes easily.
I myself have 7 All Ireland medals stretching from 1971 to 2001.
As many people wish to learn English to enhance their travel experiences I've designed this course around the language one may expect to encounter and use as one meets and greets people in various situations, from the airport to greeting the Tour Director, the hotel or attractions one visits.
As an experienced tour guide and teacher I have designed the classes to start with some ordinary situations where we will role-play and then start working up to more complicated and adventurist situations that are challenging but within the scope of the student. As a First Responder I have witnessed many situations where travellers needed to be comforted or even hospitalised. Practical advice, and knowledge of some specialised terms will be useful.
I tend to be light on homework but insist that it is completed, otherwise the class is held up. Regular feedback will help the learner feel how they are getting along and I believe strongly on encouragement and l will act positively when mistakes are made - the classroom IS the place to be allowed to make mistakes.

English conversation classes for adults and teens by an American living in IrelandThis English conversation and grammar course is designed for adults and teenagers. My main goal is to help you progress in this language at your own pace. Whether it is to acquire the basics of English, improve your language skills with a view to traveling, moving to an English-speaking country, or for your professional development, I adapt to your specific needs and objectives.
I am bilingual in English and French, with Irish-American heritage, and have dedicated the last twenty years to providing academic support, whether for children aged 4 and up or seniors over 85 years ! It's never too late to improve your language skills.
As an experienced entrepreneur for many years, I also have training in education and socio-cultural activities. My educational approach is based on adaptability and personalization, in order to offer you an optimal learning experience.
Please feel free to contact me to discuss your language needs and specific goals. I look forward to helping you achieve your English aspirations!
Kevin
Polyglot specialist with 9 years of experience. German in speed mode. Level A1 to C2. No school teaching. I offer you a German course that is not like the others. There are two types of courses. Here is an analogy to illustrate their respective approaches:
If you travel back and forth by train every day and don't have time to wait long at the platform, imagine that you only have two options:
1) Memorise the timetable.
2) Realise that the train comes every ten minutes and that a train arrives for example at 7:00 a.m.
In school pedagogy, in textbooks and in normal lessons, the first approach is used - in the course I am offering you, it is the second approach because it is more economical and faster.
My offer is aimed at both pupils and adults who want to learn the German language without time-consuming detours through the madness of fruitless school methods.
Learning is easy, but unlearning things that have become bad habits is extremely difficult. This makes it all the more important to learn the right reflexes as early as possible. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced learner, with my customised lessons you will greatly accelerate the learning process while having a positive attitude.
I offer German lessons for individuals or groups (2 to 5 people). The methods are based on cognitive science and historical linguistics in particular. My modular programme can be adapted on a case-by-case basis. The converging point of these modules is your independence in spontaneous conversations in real life.
What will not be covered in the course:
learning lists of verbs;
learning lists of nouns with articles;
learning words with their translations;
flashcards;
doing school exercises;
following the syllabus of a booklet;
imposing the English grammar on the German language.
What is particularly important to me:
to motivate my student and to give him a learning rhythm;
to encourage his creativity;
to befriend him with the language;
the letters and their sounds;
to strengthen the memory by training the phonological loop;
to teach blueprints instead of memorising sentences;
to explain how the language works in order to make my student independent as quickly as possible;
to eliminate common preconceptions, such as that 'der' would mean masculine and 'die' feminine, that the accusative would be a direct complement and the dative an indirect complement, that verbs would be irregular, that declension would be random and therefore would have to be learnt with each verb...;
to put practice at the centre and only deal with grammar where necessary.
A first lesson will give you a sound idea of my pedagogy.

✨French teacher - Pass the DELF or DALF (French diploma) - Individual or group session. ✨Hello, I am Majda, French language teacher. I have been giving private lessons online since 2018.
I offer special sessions that meet your needs and objectives to successfully complete your DELF (Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française) or DALF (Advanced Diploma in French Language), including the TCF (French Knowledge Test). I have been supporting many interested people of different nationalities thanks to online courses since 2018; For me, helping enthusiasts to practice the French language is a very good experience because I understand that success is a capital objective in the life of ambitious people.
I speak Arabic, French, Spanish, and also English. I explain my lessons in the language of your choice. And at the end of each session, I give lessons with exercises to do as homework to examine your gaps and monitor your progress.
Here are some things to know about the DELF and DALF:
The DELF (Diploma of Studies in French Language) and the DALF (Advanced Diploma in French Language) are two official and quality diplomas. They are harmonized on the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. They include the following six levels, in ascending order: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2. These two diplomas are suitable for all ages and all audiences.
In addition, the DELF B2, and increasingly the DALF C1, allow students to enter French, European or French-speaking universities, and certain Grandes Ecoles.
Will you have DELF or DALF exams to pass? Do you need to follow specific sessions with me to improve your level?
Don't hesitate to book your sessions so that we can start the preparation.

English learning or improvement coursesEnglish, beyond being the international language of business, is the most widely spoken language in the world. It is a language that brings together diverse people, from different backgrounds, cultures, and languages, enabling communication between these different parties—a crucial element in various contexts, whether traveling or at work.
Moreover, today, for many recruiters, speaking English is not a bonus but almost a necessity.
During the classes I give, I will not only focus on grammatical mastery of the language, but we will also work on the pronunciation and phonetics of this language.
I will also suggest that we read aloud together different texts from different sources (novels, newspaper articles, etc.) allowing us to add a cultural and intellectual aspect to our language learning.
