What is Business Studies?
Business Studies is one of the most international study subjects in the world, due to how broad the subject is. As a broad subject in the social sciences, business studies opens the study field to a focus of specialties such as accountancy, finance, organisation, human resources management and marketing.

Three reasons to study Business Studies:
- Communication skills: aside from excellent maths skills, studying business also entails communication skills. You will gain credit points by writing papers and giving presentations.
- Marketing 101 (knowing your audience) is part of the core contents of business studies. This becomes important when students develop products - it is important to know your audience and define target groups.
- Entrepreneurship: most bachelor and master programmes in business studies ask students to do an internship. This does not only provide you with a first impression of the labour market related to your studies, but also makes it possible to forge new relationships and widen your personal network of business contacts for the time after graduation.

Intonation and Melody

When training for a presentation, decide which words and passages deserve extra attention and increase the tone to emphasize these points. If something sounds exaggerated or false, your audience can turn against you.

Volume

A speech is not ordinary conversation, and a presenter can’t convey passion and enthusiasm if the words are delivered softly.

Clarity

Don’t forget to articulate every word, to ensure clarity on your part and understanding on the part of the audience.

Emphasis

Even in the same sentence, emphasizing different words can change the focus of a message. Changing emphasis can alter meaning and/or implication.

Pauses

when pauses are placed in strategic spots in a speech, they can make the difference between a good and an excellent presentation. There are several purposes for which pauses can be used: to give listeners a chance to absorb something that’s just been said; to generate expectations about something that’s going to be said...

Pacing & Tone

If you often get negative feedback about the faster or slower delivery of your speeches, practice delivering a speech sometimes faster and sometimes slower, so you can arrive at a natural pace.

As a previous IGCSE & IB student graduate I understand the stress and difficulty in preparing for both the Mid-terms and End of year exams. The curriculum provided for both subjects will be based on deconstructing the theory into smaller sections which are then each focused on key vocabulary and factual information. Additionally, for each subject a clear essay structure for exams will be outlined and practised based on IGCSE & IB grading criteria. Dependent on how close the student is too their final or mid-term exams lessons will be personalized to improve on their limitations and conjointly a structured summary will be created to optimally succeed in their exams.
