Metaphysics tackles all that is, epistemology challenges how we may even speak of knowledge and logic stands behind all the marvels of our age.

If you are an interested beginner, someone wishing to return to the discipline or even a current student then this course is for you. In this course we will tackle the basics of philosophy from Greece to France and to Germany. We will explore areas of metaphysics, logic, empiricism, rationalism and phenomenology. While such words may sound intimidating, within a short time they will loose their incomprehensible air.

This course is taught by a seasoned and qualified tutor with half a decade of formal philosophical training alongside 2 years of in person philosophical teaching alongside another 2 years of philosophical tutoring. In addition you will be benefiting from an additional 4 years of teaching students of all levels from teenagers to young adults and beyond.
This course also comes from a current philosopher currently publishing first class research in the field of phenomenology and the philosophy of love.

This is a remote course taught from UK time zone. However, all time zones may be possible. The course has the possibility of being specialized for a specific need. If such is the case, the details will be arranged beforehand.

I am a teacher with a long experience of a variety of educational formats. I have taught 1:1 tutoring sessions, university classes, skill coaching and even vocational instruction.

Teaching approach:
I have always been fascinated by ancient Egypt, and during my studies of Foreign Languages and Literature at Turin University, I took Egyptology for one year. I studied with Professor Silvio Curto, a well-known Egyptologist who was the Director of the Turin Museum for many years. Since my studies I have kept reading Egyptology texts and enriching my knowledge, my main interest and specialization being ancient Egyptian mythology, deities (and especially goddesses), as well as magic.

Course program:
Turin is the city in which I was born, raised and where I lived for a long time. This city is closely linked to ancient Egypt, since it houses the oldest Egyptian Museum worldwide, and still one of the most important collections in the world.

In this course we are going to visit the Museo Egizio in Turin virtually, and we are going to read and discuss interesting texts written by Egyptologists, discussing many fascinating topics, such as ancient Egyptian magic, mythology, gods and goddesses, women in Ancient Egypt and many more. And if you visit Turin, a live lesson in the Egyptian Museum in the form of a guided visit can be arranged!

In this course we will virtually tour the 'Museo Egizio' in Turin and we will talk about many fascinating topics such as Egyptian magic, deities, famous pharaohs, amulets, ancient Egyptian art and much more. We will also answer interesting questions: When did ancient Egypt begin? How old were the Egyptians? Were women equal? What colors were there in the Egyptian language? Philosophizing is a way of reasoning and a way of solving problems that will never have a perfect and definitive solution. For the past 10 years, I have been teaching German using the philosophy methodology, having studied philosophy at the Master's level at Aix-Marseille University. It turns out that the analytical mind is very useful even outside the confines of philosophy. Today, there are even fields of activity such as management with philosophy or philotherapy. In recent years, some German students have asked me to also teach them philosophy courses, and that is why I decided to offer philosophy courses directly.

Learn to think with the great philosophers of the past!

In these tutorials you will learn
- about the ideas of some of the most famous and influential philosophers of the modern age,
- how to read and understand original philosophical texts,
- most importantly, how to become a critical thinker and philosophise on your own.

In ten tutorials (each two hours long), we will follow the development of modern philosophy from the 17th century to the present. We will start with Descartes, look at Spinoza, Locke, Hume, Kant, Hegel, Schopenhauer and Nietzsche, and end with Wittgenstein and Heidegger. We will cover topics in the philosophy of mind and language, in epistemology, metaphysics and ethics. We will discuss questions such as "Is the mind distinct from matter?", "Can I know anything?", "Can we distinguish between good and evil?", "Does God exist?" etc.

Note:
You can choose whether you prefer ten tutorials (each two hours long) or twenty tutorials (each one hour long).

About me:
I am a retired university professor who still enjoys teaching philosophy. I have taught many students (graduate and undergraduate) for several decades at reputable British universities. I obtained my philosophy doctorate at the University of Oxford. I have published many books and articles in philosophy. Among my favourite philosophers are Aristotle, Aquinas, Descartes, Kant, Wittgenstein and Heidegger.
