About me: Master's student at the Sibelius Academy (saxophone classical and contemporary performance) with a lot experience in chamber music and solo performances. Also studying pedagogy as a secondary subject.

About Me

Energic person with music as a passion and lifestyle. I also like do sport and I'm learning Finnish. I'm a Master's student at Sibelius Academy.

I was born in Barcelona and my mother tongue is catalan and also spanish.

I play alto, baritone and soprano saxophone, and I'm learning the tenor.

Very experienced with chamber music, soloist in process.

Master's in classical and contemporary music performance: Sibelius Academy (University of Arts Helsinki)

Studying pedagogy as a second speciality at Sibelius Academy, 1 year of experience teaching in Spain before.
Awarded in more than 5 national and international competitions as a member of Litore Quartet (Saxophone quartet in Spain) playing the baritone saxophone.

As a saxophonist, I've played with the Finnish Guards Band, Saxophone World Congress, in several countries such as Belgium, Spain, France, Finland, Denmark, Faroe Islands, Croatia... and music styles running from Classical to improvisational music.

I am currently based in Vierumäki. Classes can be given here, or in the comfort of your home.

I can introduce you to these two instruments, help you with the repertoire you're working on, choose a new one adapted to your level, or prepare you to pass the Conservatory entrance exams.
I adapt to your goals and objectives. Together, we can design a study plan with the different subjects you want to improve.

Diogo is a curious musician, being part of different projects such as the Kaamos Duo (contemporary music for saxophone and soprano singer), chamber music with pianist Lambis Pavlou and Cantus Portugueses (traditional portuguese music with a modern twist). He also plays as a member of the contemporary music groups Korvat Auki and the Nyky Ensemble.
His main musical interests at the moment are the collaborations with living composers, chamber music with different ensembles, and interdisciplinary improvisation.
Diogo performances have taken place in many venues such as the Philharmonie of Essen, OrchesterZentrum Dortmund, Music Center Helsinki, Turku Castle, Liceu Auditorium Barcelona, Casa da Música do Porto, and many more.

Diogo's recognition includes prizes in some international competitions and the recent recognition at the 2022 Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy competition for Contemporary Ensembles and the recent participation at the prestigious Josip Nochta Competition in Zagreb, Croatia.

Diogo teaches all saxophones and ensemble playing in Portuguese, Spanish, English and German.
