Callie is a passionate teacher with over more than 10 years’ of experience in teaching music and singing both in the UK and across the world. I have a suitcase full of tools and tricks to help my students develop in their vocal and musical abilities. I promise that lessons with her will be uplifting, challenging, inspiring, with a bunch of humor, enthusiasm and passion.

I am an opera singer, and have a masters in Vocal Performance, but enjoy teaching all singing styles. I have experience in teaching students from the age of 9 to 72, from beginners to advanced and professional singers. I have helped prepare students for Conservatoires and Drama Schools, as well as graded examinations, and stage shows.

My second discipline is the Flute, and I am delighted to share this wonderful instrument with my students. I teach beginners, intermediate and advanced pupils.

Hello! I'm David, a spanish flutist. I really enjoy teaching and performing, and I have previous experience as a flute teacher back in Spain, so I would like to have some new students here in Ghent as well. I can also help you with other music stuff like theory, solfege and harmony if you want that. My music lessons are suitable for all level students, from begginers to advanced players, and we can work either in classical repertoire or in any other genre that you'd like (pop, irish, rock).

Did you always want to have a great voice? Or do you know you have one, and want to get better at using it? Or do you just want to be able to sing songs at home and enjoy yourself? What ever you are looking for, as long as you want to find enjoyment in singing, I'm the teacher for you.

I've been teaching music for a decade now, and I'm still as in love with it as when I started. I love to see my students grow. Together we look for what inspires you, what supports you technically, and find your path in learning how to sing. We'll work on breathing, tone, style, and the mental game that comes with being a confident singer and regular practice. I focus on giving you a positive learning experience; I'm going to empower you by teaching you step by step, so you know what your process is and you can reproduce it yourself at home or at a gig. If you're interested, we can also work on songwriting and/or accompanying yourself on an instrument.

You decide the tempo at which we work, you decide what and what style you want to work on, you decide whether you take classes of 30 or 60 minutes and how regularly you take them. You'll get exercises, sheet music and backing tracks to practice at home. You're allowed to record the class so you can remember everything and hear your progress. If you want to, we can even make a professional recording of you singing. Everything is possible, and everything we do will be in dialogue with each other. Wether you come every week, or every month, it's all up to you, as long as you put in the practice at home you'll make big leaps forward.

No, we don't think that being able to sing is absolutely necessary for actors. Not every actor or actress has the ambition to appear in a musical and not every series or film features singing. Still, vocal coaching is a good idea... whether you want to learn to sing or not!

With your course fee you can participate in any of our courses whenever you want. This way you can not only learn to act, but also taste our courses in debate and presentation techniques (our TV course), communication, singing, improvisation, 'physical acting', lie detection, hypnosis, directing, or writing! Of course, the following applies: the more you follow 1 particular course, the faster you progress.

Anyone who has ambitions as a singer or who wants to expand his or her skills to make it easier to land a role will soon end up taking singing lessons... but also those who have no intention of ever performing songs. can benefit greatly from vocal coaching.

You often have to be on set for a long time and then it is important to use your voice properly, so that it does not get tired and you can speak as powerfully after hours of recording as before. Finally, it is very useful to be able to put different effects on your voice. Just think of the raspy character of Gollum in The Lord of the Rings, the barking explanations of Samson, the full voice of Kabouter Plop or the grunted insults exchanged in The Chronicles of Sabrina. Judiciously used voice effects can not only add color to characters, they are sometimes essential or almost automatically arise from emotional moments. So being able to use them correctly and maintain control over them without damaging your vocal cords is essential.

What you learn

As is the case with almost all of our courses, we teach you techniques from different approaches. For our singing lessons, these are Speech Level Singing (SLS), Estill Voice Training (EVT) and Complete Vocal Technique (CVT).

Here are some things that will pass in review:

• The similarities and differences between the three major singing techniques
• Using support
• The larynx, lips, and other organs that help control voice production
• Add necessary twang
• Add air or not
• Different vocal modes (with CVT): neutral, curbing, overdrive and edge.
• Variety of voice effects including: creaking, distortion, grunting, rattling, screaming, vibrato and ornamentation
• For actors: relationship between voice color, effects and the playing of all kinds of characters
• For actors: the relationship between stem kle

I offer private singing lessons in Ghent with piano or guitar accompaniment. Knowledge of music theory isn't necessary; a desire to sing and work is all it takes! We'll focus on warming up, technique, and intention, but the joy of singing is always paramount. I can also teach you how to accompany yourself on guitar or piano while singing. Besides singing, we can also focus on songwriting, and I can guide you through the writing process and offer creative writing exercises.

For me, singing and writing music are the most rewarding things there is, and I'd love to help you discover your own voice. I have 13 years of experience as a professional singer (Sophia plays Leonard Cohen, Ansatz der Maschine, Little Dots) and 8 years of experience as a voice teacher. I also have extensive experience in music education with young children and organized music camps for children aged 4-9 for a while.
