Hi there! My name is Filipe Neves, I am an award-winning classical guitarist based in Porto, Portugal and I would be delighted to help you on your quest of discovering this beautiful instrument and improving your playing! I have a deep knowledge and understanding of classical guitar technique and musical interpretation gained by learning with the best teachers and by performing in various settings, from solo and chamber music recitals, international competitions and masterclasses (as a student and teacher) to various gigs with other genres (fado, bossa nova, jazz, etc) as well as years of experience teaching in music schools and privately. I have had the pleasure of teaching all kinds of levels and ages, from beginners level to music school or university students to professional musicians.
My latest achievement as a teacher was to help a student passing the Royal Northern College of Music entrance exam :)

Education

- BA: University of Évora (Portugal), studied with Dejan Ivanović
- MA: Conservatorium Maastricht (Netherlands), studied with Carlo Marchione
- Postgrad: Universität Mozarteum (Austria), studied with Laura Young

Worked in a music school in Portugal for three years, with ages 12-15; gave private lessons to students of several ages and levels namely adult amateurs and young adults doing their bachelors degree or wanting to enter university

Graduated in Guitar (Classical / Popular) by the Conservatório de Tatuí - Brazil, I have experience in Brazilian music and folk music, having worked as a teacher and interpreter in Brazil.

I offer guitar lessons online and face to face, with a special focus on Samba, Chôro, Bossa Nova, the traditional Brazilian MPB and variant genres.

Classes are aimed at people of all age groups without the need for prior knowledge. Will be approached in class the language of the genres with their rhythmic and historical specificities, studies of technique and musical theory.
Classes can be taught in English, Portuguese or Spanish.
