My goal as a music theory teacher is to help students according to their needs and desires. Thus, I master a multitude of fields of music, including composition, music theory, harmony, arrangement and orchestration, improvisation, conducting, film music, production technique (DAWs , mock-ups, libraries, synthesizers, mixing, etc.) and recording / studio, in various musical styles such as classical, contemporary, film music, jazz, pop / rock, folk, world, and more. I always adapt a concrete and fun approach that I learned from experience in this environment, to combine passion and learning, and I put practice and experimentation at the heart of my pedagogy.

With over 10 years of experience as a singing teacher and vocal coach (in Paris and Morocco), my goal is to help people discover all the facets of the voice through different support and placement techniques, so that everyone, whatever their level, can put words and images associated with their vocal instrument. On the program: breathing exercises, vocalizations, work on resonators, placement, projection, accuracy and interpretation. So the aim of his classes is not only to familiarize oneself with the vocabulary, to (re)discover one's voice and body and their intrinsic relationships. But also and above all to let go, to get rid of one's tensions and to have fun. Regarding the repertoire worked on, my specialist is Anglo-Saxon musical comedy but I also work on varied repertoires such as French and international variety, pop, rock, soul, etc.

TYPICAL COURSE PROGRESS: * Body preparation time: stretching the phonatory muscles, awakening the resonators and working on the “wind tunnel”. * Vocal preparation time: putting into voice and vocalizing. * We sing! Work on one or two pieces, or texts prepared in advance: technique applied to the tune or text, and interpretation. * Time for transcribing exercises and recommendations.

My classes are different depending on your level and age. With children from 7 to 12, we start by doing easy vocalization and start training the ear with intonation, we then have fun singing your favorite songs. With teenagers, I also start with some vocalization, a little more elaborate. Depending on the student's capabilities, we start establishing a comfortable range for them and then proceed to singing. For my older students ideally, I divide our lesson into 2 sections. We work on respiration and how the diaphragm works. We do scales and arpeggios and work on intonation. We then proceed to singing and putting into practice our technique. Some students might need more technique before they actually sing, I like to take things slowly and make sure the student feels confident and comfortable singing. These lessons are for young and/or inexperienced singers. My lesson plans are tailored towards students' individual goals. For some, this may be learning and embodying an audition song for their school's upcoming theater performance, and for others voice lessons are a first step towards singing healthily in their church choir. In any case, I focus on correcting and building core skills necessary to singing one's best while encouraging and fostering creativity, accountability, and motivation. If considered for a long-term journey towards singing, I will focus particularly on classical techniques to build steady breath control, good posture, and proper vowel and consonant formation. Along with providing repertoire, if the student is ready and wants, there will be opportunities for vocal performance in the Santa Cruz area. I will encourage audio recordings in all lessons to help with future preparations. I will be assigning some homework after every lesson, likely a combination of vocalization exercises, dedicated sheet music practice, and theory homework (if needed). *My first lesson will involve getting to know the student, their goals, and some vocalization to assess vocal level. For singers with minimal/no prior foundational music theory knowledge, I may recommend time from lessons (15-30 minutes) being allocated solely towards foundational music theory learning.

Experienced teacher of Oud and oriental Arabic singing for over 11 years, I am Lebanese and currently residing in Germany. I studied for 8 years at the Lebanese National Conservatory. I taught at the Casa Beethoven Academy in Lebanon and gave private lessons. In addition, I was conductor of the Loubnan Assalam oriental orchestra for over 5 years. My recommendation for learning the Oud is to start with the study of notes and musical notation before tackling pieces. Although some students prefer to play songs directly, understanding the basics of musical notation allows for faster progress in the long run. My name is Denise and I'm a professional singer with a singing master's degree from Catalonia's Music College (ESMUC) specialized in Historical Singing, Musicology and Music Education.
