As a MSc Student in Modern Languages for Communication and International Cooperation at the University of Turin (Italy) I learnt two foreign languages - English and German, achieving the C1 level in both. In my past work experiences, I specialised in tutoring English for adults (mostly speaking class) and German for school (mostly grammar class), but - as an Italian native speaker - I am able to tutor Italian in every aspects needed, that being writing, speaking, grammar and listening, providing exercises and periodic progress reports.

I am currently a MSc Student in Modern Languages for Communication and International Cooperation at the University of Turin. During my studies, I have helped several people from secondary school to university to train their English and German language skills, with conversations, grammar lessons and writing activities. Thanks to my participation in many individual and group projects, I have developed excellent team working and problem solving skills. I consider myself to be a helpful, open-minded and outgoing person, who aims to make students love the subject of teaching in the same way that I love foreign languages.

I am a Turkish teacher. I graduated in Turkey with a BA in Languages. The classes I offer are from basic to academic level, so for children, students, expats and adults. That focus is on learning grammar, speaking,, reading and writing. If you want to learn Turkish for vacation, work, family or just as a hobby, I can certainly help you. I use Turkish grammar books, podcast, websites for learning Turkish and other study materials. and the rate is lower from 5 lessons.

Normally a student with a motivation to learn the language learns basic Turkish in 10 or 15 lessons. Both private and group lessons (The Hague) are available.

Ciao! I have been teaching Italian for the past twelve years. I have taught privately and at language schools like La Scuola Italiana del Greenwich Village in New York and ItalCultura, the school of the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago. During the first few lessons I will make sure you have the tools to pronounce and identify all the sounds of the Italian language. This step is essential! And it will make everything easier afterwards. When I teach Italian I try to avoid all the things that I hated as a language student. We will use real songs, real literature, do real conversation and storytelling. When you are engaging all your senses it is easier to keep your mind relaxed and to remember new words.

I will customize my materials to your interests, needs and desired pace. And because you are learning from a native Italian you will also learn about Italian culture and history. You will absorb a way of thinking, not just grammar rules.

I speak a bunch of languages so I know a thing or two about how tedious language classes can be. My terrifying French teacher in middle school made us repeat the same fake dialogue from a really bad book ad nauseam, over and over and over again. Some of those dialogues are carved in my brain: “Bonjour, je m’appelle Richard Drapeau, je viens du Canada, je suis Canadien...”

When I teach Italian I try to avoid all the things that I hated as a language student. We will use real songs, real literature, do real conversation and storytelling and we will go on “talking walks” because when you are engaging all your senses it is easier to keep your mind relaxed and to remember new words.

I hold a degree in Lingue e Letterature Straniere (Foreign Languages and Literatures) from Università Roma Tre (equivalent to an American MA) and a Master’s of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts and Media from Columbia College Chicago. I wrote a thesis about translating a long epic poem by W. H. Auden and I tried to ride a horse across America.

I like to use different methods to teach French to students. It can be through songs, drama, role play or videos. I also very often use situations close to the student's experience, such as describing places they have been or talking about what they have experienced. At the same time, I teach the grammar rules to the student. I now live in regions where French has been spoken for over 30 years. Because I have learned French myself (and I am still learning other languages), I can easily put myself in a student's shoes. I can teach in French, Dutch, English, German and Russian.

If you wish to brush up your Italian, resume a past series of lessons, or simply start from scratch learning Italian, this is the right lesson for you! I like to personalize each class/course according to the needs and goals of my students. My classes are focused on improving the student's communication skills. At beginner and lower intermediate levels, I prefer using a text book/ student book in the first part of the class. I usually use "Nuovissimo Progetto Italiano" and "Arrivederci" by Edilingua, or "Nuovo Espresso" and "Dieci" by Alma Publishing. For the second part of the lesson, I create engaging contents using original videos, press articles, extracts from blogs and social media, literary texts.
