Hello, my name’s Emma! I am British, born and raised in the Southeast of England. I worked as an international civil servant in Paris, and my academic background is in law and political science. I have been teaching English part time since 2012. I have taught English to families and students across France, as well as in China, Brazil and Germany. I also volunteered with Spanish-speaking refugees when I lived in California, teaching them conversational English. I currently volunteer with Farsi- and Arabic-speaking refugees in Paris.

I like to use different methods to teach French to students. It can be through songs, drama, role play or videos. I also very often use situations close to the student's experience, such as describing places they have been or talking about what they have experienced. At the same time, I teach the grammar rules to the student. I now live in regions where French has been spoken for over 30 years. Because I have learned French myself (and I am still learning other languages), I can easily put myself in a student's shoes. I can teach in French, Dutch, English, German and Russian.
