About Myself:
Hi! (Ciao a tutti!) My name is Ilaria. I am 29 years old and I am an enthusiastic Italian language teacher, living in Copenaghen. I have a master’s degree in Italian Studies and Linguistics from the University of Bologna, and on top of this I am certified for teaching Italian to foreigners with a qualification from Cà Foscari, University of Venice.
I speak English fluently and I am currently studying Danish.

About my lessons:
My lessons are fun and made with authentic and interesting materials, like podcasts, articles, short videos and so on. I believe that language learning is made easier using authentic sources such as podcasts, articles, short videos, etc, and for this reason, I prepare lessons that use these materials.
My main purpose is to help you to achieve your goals, and l will organise lessons based on your needs and interests. If you want to travel to Italy or simply want to speak with your Italian friends, we can work together on your conversational skills.
On the other hand, if you need to go to Italy for work or academic purposes, we can instead focus our lessons on grammar, formal writing skills, business Italian, and the right vocabulary for a job interview, etc.
We will work together to make you a fluent and confident Italian speaker!

I was born in Istanbul in 1983. I started teaching Turkish while studying Turkish Language and Literature at university. I worked in a language school and at universities, and I suppose I gained success. 😀 I have been teaching Turkish professionally for more than 16 years. I also taught Turkish for 5 years when I was a university student.

In 2018, I obtained a TESOL certificate and also began teaching English. I teach both adults and children. Creating a comfortable learning environment for my students is one of my top priorities. If you would like to learn Turkish or English in a consistent and structured way, I would be happy to work with you.

Learning a new language opens a new window into a person; teaching Turkish is the same for me. As I build stronger relationships with my students, I notice their engagement with the Turkish language deepens.

I speak English and a bit of Italian, and I have also studied Persian and German grammar. I am interested in literature.

I hold firmly to two main principles: creating a comfortable space for learning and building an encouraging atmosphere.

My students often describe me as patient, positive, and well-organised. Over time, I’ve found my own way of making Turkish feel easier, more enjoyable, and more practical to learn.

I love shaping each lesson around my students’ interests, needs, and learning styles. I adapt my teaching to the needs of students with special conditions, such as ADHD and OCD.

In my lessons, you’ll never feel afraid of making mistakes. Before long, you’ll start noticing them on your own and correcting yourself naturally.

Even though I use a communicative approach, my lessons are supported by a solid understanding of grammar, as Turkish has a very different structure.

I use the course book set prepared by Istanbul University. It follows a strategic approach to learning Turkish and includes all language skills—reading, grammar, writing, listening, watching, and speaking—from A1 to C2. All of these skills are essential for conversation.

I teach English for the A1 and A2 levels.

The workbook offers many exercises for homework or revision, and I support the book with my own authentic materials. I also use an interactive board that you can view anytime, and you can edit it as well. Repetition-based speaking practice plays an important role in my lessons.

If you wish to brush up your Italian, resume a past series of lessons, or simply start from scratch learning Italian, this is the right lesson for you! I like to personalize each class/course according to the needs and goals of my students. My classes are focused on improving the student's communication skills. At beginner and lower intermediate levels, I prefer using a text book/ student book in the first part of the class. I usually use "Nuovissimo Progetto Italiano" and "Arrivederci" by Edilingua, or "Nuovo Espresso" and "Dieci" by Alma Publishing. For the second part of the lesson, I create engaging contents using original videos, press articles, extracts from blogs and social media, literary texts.
