The recorder is a great instrument to learn either on its own or as a springboard for transferring to other instruments! Lessons will improve your musicality and your playing, no matter your level, and teach you to enjoy and express yourself through music.

As a beginner, you or your child can expect to learn the basics of music notation and how to read it, and how to play simple pieces on the recorder. Intermediate and advanced students can expect more nuanced lessons on technique, musicality, phrasing, and more. Basic theory and aural skills training will be incorporated throughout, and students can work towards graded exams if they wish.

I am a student at the Guildhall School, specialising in recorder performance. I am an active and experienced performer, and have experience teaching in a variety of contexts.

Hi! I'm Julien, a recorder player from and based in London. I'm friendly and reliable, with professional experience in my field.

I study the recorder at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, one of the country's leading conservatoires, and have worked in music education as a workshop leader, classroom assistant, and individual teacher. I am also an active performing musician, as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player.

Dear Student, You are going to learn in my class, how to play recorder or oboe on high quality. We will discover every secret of my lovely instruments, and I hope you will enjoy it. I will show you how can you practise, and how can you improve your skills, and how can you become a very good recorder or oboe player. For my oboists I'm going to teach how to make reed, as well. I'm waiting for you in my class!!

I specialise in teaching guitar for all levels. Beginners are very welcome. My main aim is to get the students to enjoy playing and from there we can start to get deeper into theory, composition, improvisation and song writing. I also specialise in Brazilian guitar if that is anyone's passion.

I offer piano lessons for all levels.

I have a very good contact with children. I am demanding but gentle and very patient. I believe that one learns by listening, I am present to allow this listening to be at the center of the course and thus accompany the student on the path of music.

The development of listening to the inner song is at the heart of my teaching.

For beginners: songs, games, improvisation, creation. The links with song and rhythm are very important to have a healthy foundation. The musical notions are approached gradually by experience then by recognition. Reading and writing are brought about by creation and musical composition.

For the more experienced, polyphony and difficult passages can be approached with different tools, by awareness of harmony and melodic modes and polyrhythm. Sometimes it is enough to be aware of simplicity to overcome difficult passages.

I push to go further in the quality of the interpretation with simple means to better understand the music and thus allow more expressiveness and freedom.

I also offer improvisation, harmony,
lessons in musical ensembles, especially vocal polyphony for children, and lessons for specific needs, for example just intonation for singers or other instruments.

Rhythm, melody, harmony, duo play, replay, music listening, ear training, music notation, and sight-reading. You can learn some days, and some others may develop skills over some years. 9 progressive levels of study (sheet music, audio files, theory) are designed by London contemporary scholars. My goal is to help you build the strong technical foundations that lead to freedom and joy in playing the violin while keeping the learning process fun and engaging. I had the privilege of studying with world-renowned violinist Zakhar Bron, and at the age of 21, I had to completely rework my violin technique. Because I learned it later in life, I can break down the essentials and explain them in a way that’s easy to understand—something most violinists, who learned their technique as young children, often struggle to do. Together, we’ll build the foundations that will allow you to play freely, rather than feeling restricted by technique.

I’m a native French speaker and fluent in both Spanish and English. You can choose the language you’re most comfortable with, so we can focus entirely on making progress with your playing.
