Kanun lessons with a focus on Greek folk and rebetiko repertoire

The kanun is an instrument of the zither family, used historically in various cultures including Arabic, Armenian, Turkish and Greek. I am a professional performer and hold a Bachelor's degree in Musicology from the University of Ioannina (Greece), specializing in the kanun.
In the lesson we will be focusing on technique, repertoire (mainly Greek and Ottoman), makam theory and elements of taksim improvisation. The level and pace of lessons will completely adapt to the needs and interests of each student.

I am an easy-going, kind and responsible person. The aspect of teaching that I enjoy most is getting to know the student, understanding their specific needs and tailoring the content of our meetings accordingly.
