Hello everybody! My name is Wissam. I am from Egypt but I live in the Netherlands. I have been in the career of teaching for 16 years. I hold a master's degree in Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language from the American University in Cairo (AUC). I am a professional certified trainer as well as a certified Language instructor from the American university in Cairo. I have taught Arabic inside Egypt at AUC and abroad at Leiden University in the Netherlands. I teach all levels of Arabic including beginners, intermediate and advanced. Moreover, I teach two varieties of Arabic: Modern standard Arabic (MSA) and Egyptian Colloquial Arabic (ECA). Also, I prepare students for ACTFL Arabic test in four skills: writing, reading, listening and Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI). I design syllabus, prepare materials and plan lessons according to students' language proficiency needs and preferences using a variety of techniques such as songs, short stories, TV shows, games, visual and audio materials. This class is about learning Tunisian Arabic to easily interact with Tunisians. Tunisian Arabic is not the first dialect you hear about when you start to learn Arabic, but it is indeed one of the most fascinating and useful, especially if you are working in Tunisia, your partner is Tunisian or you are into North African social studies.
It occurred to you to be told that Tunisian Arabic has no grammatical or syntactic rules because it's not real Arabic? Well, that's not true! I can reveal you some tips to speak and sound Tunisian even if you don't know anything about Arabic. We will talk, play, watch videos from Tunisian tv programs and learn about language and culture.

I also do transcriptions and translations of documents and videos into French and Italian for academic researchers, journalists, and entrepreneurs.

Tijdens de lessen wordt u de beginselen van de Arabische taal bijgebracht, zowel het gesproken als het geschreven Arabisch. Uiteraard houden wij zoveel mogelijk rekening met individuele wensen. Op speelse wijze wordt het leren van het alfabet gecombineerd met conversatie en het aanleren van de grammatica.

Het modern standaard Arabisch (MSA) is afgeleid van het klassiek Arabisch en is de schrijftaal in de gehele Arabische wereld. Het is ook de gesproken taal van conferenties, onderwijs, radio en televisie, religie en formeel taalgebruik. Het is in het kort de taal van miljoenen Arabieren die elementair onderwijs hebben genoten. Het verschaft de inwoners van de Arabische landen een gevoel van identiteit en een gemeenschappelijke culturele erfenis. Daarnaast bestaan er ook talloze lokale dialecten. Deze worden thuis, op de markt, onder vrienden gesproken.
