Lots and lots of people love classical music, and for many learning to sing with confidence is a top dream of theirs. In order to become a great singer, you’ll need to learn how to use your body and breath, but what’s even more important is gaining self-belief and learning how to truly perform pieces.

As a result my course will revolve around diction, expression and performance, as well as the essential basics of classical vocal technique.

I have been singing since I was very young - my first start was as a soprano with the Edinburgh junior section of the National Youth Choir of Scotland. I’ve continued to train ever since then, and as a result my singing has seen me travel to America, Hong Kong, and Australia among other places.

In my lessons, I like to focus on performance as well as technique - namely diction, emotional expression and confidence-building. When it comes to technique, we’ll learn about breathing, relaxing muscle tension, and other tips and tricks!

I am open to beginner and intermediate students in particular, and I’m keen to people with interests across the classical spectrum - let me know what you want to sing!

Erfahrung / Qualifikationen

I am currently studying voice at a highly regarded London conservatoire, and hold a distinction in Grade 8 Voice from the ABRSM.

I was a soprano with the Choir of Trinity College, Cambridge for 4 years, which saw me tour and record the works of composers such as Vaughan Williams, Finzi and Stanford on top of evensong duties.

As for opera, I have appeared as Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro, Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos, Noémie in Cendrillon, and prepared the role of Tytania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

I am Ida, a creative and passionate musician, and music educator, counting 20 years in artistic practice and having 7+ years of experience in teaching. I offer you fun and inspiring singing lessons which are based on your individual needs and preferences.

Either you are a beginner or advanced, I am looking forward to supporting you on your musical path!

Learning to sing can have quite an impact on many aspects of your life. Of course, it brings a lot of joy but it can also help with building confidence, help you relax and it’s also known to be beneficial to your health!

In my classes, I want to work on these things and help you become the singer you want to be. My music lessons do not necessarily have the aim to make you “better” but to guide you on your individual music journey. That is why we establish in the first classes what your style and your aspirations are and based on those I tailor a program to meet your needs.

My name is Jonas, I am a professional musician and singer and started my personal music journey over ten years ago. Initially trained from a young age in classical singing, I later moved on to do jazz and contemporary styles and then decided to move to London to study Music Performance and Production at LCCM.

Over the years I came to an important realization. Although music and singing technique is extremely important, the purpose of music is to convey emotion. I feel this is an aspect that is quickly overlooked but makes the difference in being able to make an audience remember you or not. These aspects of the authenticity of voice and performance I focus on in my classes.

It doesn’t matter which age or which singing level you currently are - everyone is welcome in my classes. I truly believe that anyone can sing and that everyone should experience the joy of singing.

In the singing lesson we look at breathing, vocal technique, language, expression and interpretation. I take much pleasure in watching a student grow and facilitating their development and helping them on their own path. The most important thing to me is that they enjoy using their voice and telling a story through music.

I have recently graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with a Master of Music degree with distinction. Through the developing of my private practice, I am becoming increasingly interested and deeply passionate about teaching singing and singing pedagogy. For me, music – and especially singing – is all about communication, between performer and audience, between composer and performer/audience, between teacher and student; it is about conveying a story and human emotions that people can relate to and that give us a sense of connection and belonging. This requires not only a deep understanding of technical skills, but also a sensitivity to the text and the way it is set into music, both melodically and harmonically.
