I have graduated with a double master with distinction from both Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerpen and the Royal College of Music in London. I am also holding the Academist position at the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra.

Über mich

I'm José and I've recently graduated from a Master of Performance in Viola at the Royal College of Music in London. I was given the ‘The Houston Family Scholar supported by a Lucy Ann Jones Scholarship’ for this studies.
I was awarded distinction for my Bachelor of Music degree at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (Portugal) where I've studied with Pedro Saglimbeni-Muñoz, as well as for my Master in Music degree at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Antwerpen with Leo de Neve.
I also won twice (2016 and 2018) the second prize at the “Vasco Barbosa” national competition in Lisbon, I'm a former holder of the Calouste-Gulbenkian Foundation scholarship, a regular replacement of the Portuguese Symphonic Orchestra since 2013, and I held the Academist position at the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra during the 2019/2020 season.
I'm looking forward to share my knowledge from the past 20 years with you!

Trough the course of my education period and in my professional life I have stumbled upon a lot of issues and difficulties I needed to figure out how to solve. Studying with multiple professors and going to private lessons gave me (and still is) different pieces of the puzzle and together with my own observations, I started to understand it is really about knowing how things operate and giving it some love and practice.
