I believe that it is important that each session is tailored to the individual. Sessions will begin with a brief introduction to the topic and a task which will allow me to gauge the current working level and to establish strengths and weaknesses in the area. My experience as a tutor allows me to make quick, informed decisions about how to adapt the session in order to achieve maximum progress. I always make sure that I have read and understood the relevant exam board specification to ensure that I deliver the information and skills required for exam success. I strongly feel that engagement, encouragement and enjoyment are essential for acquiring, understanding and retaining new skills and knowledge. Therefore, my sessions will be interactive and include progressive tasks allowing application and practice. I try to make my tutees comfortable in my sessions through reassurance and communication, with us both asking questions throughout the session - I am ready to explain things in different ways until it is understood!
