The TWERK AND IMPROVISATION classes are for ALL BODIES that want and/or feel the need to move.

In this workshop we'll work on our groundness in relation with the center of your body and the floor, self confidence, moving, swinging, lots of shaking, screaming, rolling, spinning, and to produce good energy in order to heal things, body parts and everything in between by connecting with your beautiful body and your soul from the inside focusing on the pelvic region stimulating stamina (resistance), serotonina, dopamina, endorfina and ocitocina (happiness toxins) PLUS ++++ it also helps on process such as blood circulation, elimination of liquids, reproduction, sexuality and also to go through on a lot of twerk movements/content.

You gotta know that twerk is a constant practice but the main and important thing is that you can have fun moving your body shaking that ass up and down without judgement and getting involved with the amazing Brazilian popular music (pop, funk, brega-funk). The most important thing: to move without judgment, to get involved with the beats of the music, to sweat, to generate stamina, to have fun and also to discover new movements as tools of care and stimulation of pleasure with your own body.

Marlla Araújo, 27y old, dancer-performer-teacher and twerk researcher from the favelas of Rio de Janeiro/Brasil. I live in Brussels it has been almost 4 years since I came to start my BA studies and currently I'm doing a MA in choreography developing my practice around Twerk and Improvisation content.

- Graduated by Núcleo 2 of Intensive and Continued Dance Training of Escola Livre de Dança da Maré at Centro de Artes da Maré in Rio de Janeiro.
- Co-founded and ex-member of the theater group, Grupo Atiro.
- BA in performing arts at PARTS
- Currently studying MA in choreography at PARTS

She worked with health promotion in the project Rap da Saúde, a partnership with the Municipal Health Secretary of Rio de Janeiro (2013-2014). She was member of the project "Teatro em Comunidades". She did an internship in the Mais Educação project of the Ministry of Education (2016). Worked in birthday parties doing recreation and live characters (2014-2018).

She also participated in artistic exchanges: Camping at the Centre National de la Danse in Paris (2016 and 2018), as, with the school La Manufacture in Lausanne (2016). Danced in 6 cities in France a season of the the iconic piece "May B" (1981) by Maguy Marin by the transmission project "May B-De Ste Foy-Les-Lyon to Rio de Janeiro: May B à la Maré, Une Fraternité" (2018). Danced the work "Outrar", a duet with Luyd Carvalho in partnership with Lia Rodrigues dance company, at Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels (2021) and also at 220 Volts festival in Porto in (2021). She danced her new creations, the solo "Rebirth" and the duet "Routes" (with Luyd Carvalho) at Le festival d'automne in Paris (2021).

This last would create an atmosphere that they relate to and a music that they feel connected to in order to drive them slowly in connecting their bodies and rythme. The improvisation task would play throughout variety of notions : music / silence / speaking / construction of time / construction of space.

Technical: variety of technical bases of contemporary dance would be introduced. The use of the body/ choreography/ the use of the space/ the use of surroundings/ using objects / contact improvisation.

Duet improvisation : This task is based on how the individual could relate to other body. The aim is that someone improvises while the other watches which brings a close connection to each one another as a group and start to see dancing and moving in details and closely. The second step is repeating what they saw or repeat simultaneously. This could be a good tool to try to work on memory and how they perceive the movements. (The repetition could be not identical to the previous version but at least it could take some items as rythm way of use of the body time and space together)

Yoga

The group improvisation: this improvisation would need a group of people together in which the task Would be OPEN for any suggestions.
