My name is Marat and I am a London-based pianist, musicologist and composer with more than 20 years of experience. I am also a dedicated and experienced piano, composition, music theory and music technology tutor offering excellent and in-depth tuition for any age or ability. I have been teaching extensively in schools and privately, and giving lectures at universities. I would be happy to share my passion and enthusiasm for music with you!

My musical path started at Moscow Jurgenson Music School in Russia at the age of 7 where I took my first piano and music theory lessons. After 8 years of full-time studying I graduated with distinction. In 2015, I graduated from Goldsmiths, University of London specialising in classical and contemporary performance (under Andrew Zolinsky) and music education. Recently, I have completed my masters programme at Goldsmiths, University of London specialising in contemporary musicology (under Keith Potter) and music management.

Since 2012, I have been performing and premiering contemporary classical music solo or with ensembles at various venues and events, including IKLECTIK, Arebyte Gallery, Sound Festival, Southbank Centre, Cheltenham Music Festival and Teatro Baltazar Dias (Madeira, Portugal). I am a core member of the New Maker Ensemble, a group dedicated to experimenting with various art forms of new music and performance art. I regularly write articles and album reviews about new music. I have given lectures and presentations on new music at various conferences and events, including the Gnesin Contemporary Music Week 2020, 2021 and 2022, the Gnesin Academy and ZIL Culture Centre. And I even have my own podcast about new music.

Tuition is open for both online and in-person classes. All ages and abilities welcome: from age 5 to adult learners, beginner to advanced. I teach from my flat in Surrey Quays, but can also travel to my students, in which case a travel fee will be added to the standard rates. I currently offer:

I have prepared a great number of students for their piano and theory ABRSM exams both privately and at various music schools. The large majority of the results are distinctions and merits. Many of my students went on to study music at a higher institutional level. Some students received music scholarships while studying with me.

Pianist - Keyboard player

As a beginner or intermediate piano player you will learn to play in in a wide range of (classical) music genres varying from composers such as Ludovico Einaudi, Beethoven, Yann Tiersen and many more.

You will learn the right finger techniques for learning to wheel an Keyboard and a Piano accurately.

You will be prepared for your further musical development

You will receive appropriate tasks and piano assignments to practice

You will learn how to make your own piano compositions from scratch.

You can give content to your own lessons by deciding what kind off songs you would like to learn how to play.

Music producer - music production

As a beginner in music production you will learn how to produce electronic music independently using a home studio using accessible, low-cost technology, such as MIDI instruments and VSTs, to create musical ideas for yourself but also local and undiscovered talent.

You will learn mixed methods to write and record songs, make beats and mix them.

You will get an introduction to a variety of music software programs for music production such as Ableton Live, Garageband and Logic Pro X.

You will learn how to put down tracks overdubbed mixed, record songs and mix songs.

Developed production process improvements by implementing innovative sound techniques.
