Singing and/or Acting for Musical Theatre and Stage

This class is for singers of all abilities! I am originally a classically trained singer, having studied under Lorraine Neubauer at the Juilliard School, having then gone on to train in musical theatre for both my Undergraduate and Masters Degrees. I am currently performing in Pretty Woman on the West End.
We will look at using the voice with the upmost health and care, as well as looking at acting through song, and above all else these lessons should be fun!! So, that is what I aim for in every lesson. With the current health climate, I am currently offering discounted lessons online!

Jawa (1996) a Syrian oud player, singer and composer.
I was born in Aleppo, and I grew up in Damascus, Syria. I started playing music at the age of eleven. I chose the Oud as my instrument because my father used to play it everyday at home when I was young. Gradually, I fell in love with it and now I feel an unlimited feeling of freedom while playing it. Graduated from Rotterdam Conservatory in 2021.

Teaching different musical instruments: piano, guitar, oud, oriental singing and oriental maqamat, reading sheet music.

Arabic singing: We will learn how to sing correctly, learn the exits of the letters, vocal exercises, and learn how to distinguish the Eastern Maqams in simple ways.

Oud: We will learn how to hold the oud in the correct way, speed exercises, oriental maqams and examples in songs for each maqam.

Piano: musical scales - and we learn about all kinds of chords (harmony) - famous pieces and songs by learning how to read musical notes - exercises to strengthen the fingers

1- Organic causes: physiological voice disorders that result from alterations in respiratory, laryngeal, or vocal tract mechanisms.

A) Structural: organic voice disorders that result from physical changes in the vocal mechanism, such as:
- Polyps.
- Vocal Nodules.
- Edema
- Cysts on the vocal cords, growths that aren't cancer.

B) Neurogenic causes: organic voice disorders that result from problems with the central or peripheral nervous system innervation to the larynx that affect functioning of the vocal mechanism, such as:
- Vocal tremor.
- Spasmodic dysphonia.
- Vocal fold paralysis.
- Vocal cord paralysis or weakness.

2- Functional causes: voice disorders that result from inefficient use of the vocal mechanism when the physical structure is normal, such as:
- Vocal fatigue.
- Muscle tension Dysphonia or Aphonia.
- Diplophonia.
