This course is designed to talk through the key themes and theories of a standard Film Studies or Media Studies A-level course, giving you a head start on your understanding of a subject which is crucial to undertsanding our media-rich contemporary world.

ABOUT ME
I've been working as a freelance film producer and media professional since 2010, producing work for a range of different markets. In that time I've mentored a number of people and been mentored myself - now I'm keen to pass on my knowledge to others.
I hold a full, enhanced DBS certificate.

MY EXPERIENCE
I've lectured at a number of colleges and schools, as well as having delivered workshops and seminars for small (and larger) audiences.

MY TUTORING STYLE
I can support individuals on a one-to-one basis using targeted, task orientated learning practices, or through a more flexible approach; whatever works for you. I believe in the importance of holistic learning, so I'll try wherever possible to provide links to complimentary disciplines.

More than anything, I believe that the best learning environment is a relaxed, focussed and trusting one. I want my tutees to be comfortable at all times and I'll spend time making sure you and I get that balance right before we begin.

Advanced film production techniques class covering the following in detail: lighting, sound, colour correction, using green screens, filming in motion, 4K resolution and remote video-editing workflows. While students will practice their skills through brief, task-based, filming and editing assignments, a large sum of time will be devoted to planning, development, setup and execution of a singular film project of their choice. In addition to preparation for working in teams on a set, students will develop the following: reel displaying a wide range of filming and editing skills, résumé/CV, general cover letter, portfolio/updated website with artist statement and downloadable professional documents. The class will be targeted towards preparing students for the world of film, whether academic or commercial.

Anyone can make a movie, but where do you start?
In these lessons I guide you in how you can translate the story you want to tell into images and sound. Depending on your needs, I can guide you in the development of a film plan, setting up your own shooting days, interviews and editing in Adobe Premiere Pro, iMovie or Windows Movie Maker. You learn filmmaking mainly by doing, so experimenting is very important. It is up to you what kind of film you want to make, I guide you in your needs and capabilities. In this workshop you will get to know yourself and your fascination: the basis of the journey of discovery into who you are as a filmmaker.

The first steps in getting to know yourself as a storyteller have been taken. Maybe you would like to interview others or make a film about animals. You start to see the world more and more through the eyes of a filmmaker. You have an idea of your fascinations and story, but how do you make the transition to film? In this lesson I will take you through the rich possibilities to tell your story. There are no boundaries in shapes. Do you dare to take a deep-sea dive or experience the magic of film?

FIND YOUR FILM
Every great filmmaker started experimenting at some point. In this workshop we will make our own 1-minute documentary film. You learn to sit in the director's seat, dive into the world of editing and leave with your own film. From fascination to film: you did it!

As a self taught editor, i always wished for some guidance when it came to figuring out how to go about making an edit, finding sponsers, following trends and networking.
