This English language course is specifically designed for students who face challenges in mastering vocabulary, grammar, and effective communication. Through a supportive, engaging, fun and interactive learning environment, students will strengthen their English language skills, gain confidence in expressing themselves, and develop strategies to overcome difficulties in language acquisition.

Vocabulary Enhancement: Expand students' vocabulary through targeted exercises, interactive activities, and practical applications to improve their ability to comprehend and use a wider range of words in context.

Grammar Fundamentals: Focus on key grammar concepts, including sentence structure, verb tenses, articles, and prepositions, to help students grasp fundamental grammar rules and apply them accurately in their speaking and writing.

Communication Skills: Develop students' ability to express themselves clearly and coherently in English through speaking and writing tasks. Emphasis will be placed on building confidence in initiating and sustaining conversations, as well as conveying ideas effectively.

Reading and Listening Comprehension: Enhance students' reading and listening comprehension skills by engaging with a variety of texts, audio materials, and multimedia resources. Activities will be tailored to improve comprehension, inferencing, and critical thinking abilities.

Writing Proficiency: Support students in improving their writing skills, including sentence construction, paragraph development, and overall coherence. Practice will be provided in different types of writing, such as descriptive, narrative, and persuasive compositions.

Cultural Awareness: Foster an understanding of British culture and customs to enrich students' language learning experience and promote cross-cultural communication competence.

One of my main passions is to support students in confidently communicating in English. I also want students to feel valued when developing their English Vocabulary.

This class is designed for anyone who would like to improve their English skills, from beginner to advanced levels. I speak German and Romanian fluently in addition to English, as well as conversational Chinese and Spanish, which may make it easier for some. I tailor the class to suit the individual; after a first session I can assess the student's goal (ie. conversational, business, written, etc. level of English) and create a program to suit this.

Can learning English be fun, insightful, productive and effective at the same time? I believe so!

Whatever your background or profession, deciding to learn a foreign language is a great way to add another dimension to your life and make your mind work in a new way. You become a (slightly) different person, since along with a new language, one learns to look at the world in a slightly different way. This is why my approach to teaching English is not only aimed at laying or strengthening the foundational knowledge - grammar, speaking, writing and listening skills, but also at introducing students to the culture of the English-speaking population. We will find out what English speakers find funny, what drives them to tears, what makes them feel proud and what they get embarrassed about.

Open to students of all levels, my course usually is taught online, using a variety of visual aids and a wide range of material, from textbooks to YouTube videos. In teaching advanced learners, I often refer to pieces of literature such as novels and poems, since they easily spark discussions, which in turn improves the students' grasp and feel of the language. In doing so, I take students beyond ordinary textbooks and grammar books, since they are no more than guides to learning, not absolute authorities, and because to me language is a living, constantly evolving matter, which you must submerge yourself into in order to understand.

In addition to my unorthodox approach, what sets me apart is a collection of unique, language-related experiences, which translate into a good ability to understand nuances of the English language. A native Russian speaker, I have lived in the UK for over 5 years, went to a Scottish boarding school and have even completed a university degree in English.
