Los cursos de Ciencias Sociales permiten entender los fenómenos sociales complejos a través del análisis de comportamientos e interacciones de los sistemas políticos, jurídicos, económicos, sociales y culturales. El nacimiento de Guatemala como República, en 1847, tiene sus raíces en la lucha separatista que empezó con el debilitamiento de las provincias centroamericanas. Debido al fracaso federal, luego de la Independencia, en 1821, la situación de los estados centroamericanos se torna confusa.
