I love making my lessons fun and engaging, tailoring my teaching methods to fit the unique needs of each student. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to improve, I’m here to guide you every step of the way.
Education
My musical journey began at the age of three when my mother took me to a music school, and that’s when I started playing the piano. After graduating from music school, I enrolled in a music college where I completed four years of study in two departments: special piano performance and symphony orchestra conducting.
Following college, I continued my education at the Odessa National Academy, where I earned my bachelor's degree in piano teaching.

I am a qualified piano teacher, accompanist and symphony orchestra conductor.

This diverse education and experience allow me to bring a deep understanding of music to my teaching. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and inspiring students of all ages and levels to discover the joy of playing the piano. Whether it’s mastering technique, exploring musical expression, or learning performance skills, my background helps me guide every student on their unique musical journey.
Expérience / Qualifications
I have two years of professional experience teaching piano at a music school, where I also worked as an accompanist. During my studies, I gained four years of teaching practice, working closely with students of various ages.
I have experience teaching children as young as three years old, focusing on developing their musical ear and listening skills. Additionally, I completed and defended a project dedicated to ear development in children aged 1 to 3 years.

My background combines practical teaching experience with a strong theoretical foundation, allowing me to support young learners effectively from their earliest musical stages. I am passionate about nurturing a love for music and helping students build a solid foundation for their musical growth.

Being highly skilled in sight-reading, I have often realized how valuable and enjoyable it is to possess that “gift.” After more than ten years of teaching students of different levels and aspirations, I have observed a common thread: regardless of their goals, all were eager to improve their ability to read and interpret new, unfamiliar music.

Currently, I am developing a multifaceted approach designed to help students understand a composition at first sight. This method combines specific pattern recognition and structural score-mapping, anchored in a fundamental understanding of rhythm, pitch, and harmony, together with highly effective practice and memorization strategies personalized to each student's needs and technical challenges.

For over ten years, I have been teaching students of all ages and levels. In addition to regular lessons, I offer the opportunities to perform at the yearly class concert as well as dedicated preparation for ABRSM piano examinations.

I'm a pianist with extensive performing experience on international stages and a first-prize winner of more than 30 international piano competitions across Europe and USA. I hold a Master's degree and four Postgraduate degrees (piano and chamber music) from the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel.

As a concert pianist, trained at the Conservatoire National de Musique de Paris, winner of several international competitions, and currently artist in residence at the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth in Belgium, I offer piano lessons that combine pleasure and seriousness.
Whether you want to progress or start at the piano, I have had the pleasure of helping many students in private lessons. I am based in Paris, in the 11th arrondissement, and give my lessons at home, where I have a Yamaha CX3 grand piano, or I can go to the student's house.

< Learning Piano is not merely about playing the piano >

Before starting to learn the piano, it’s essential to recognize that :

'' What we are actually learning is "Music", but not only "Piano". ''

The goal of learning any instrument is to acquire the language of music, enabling us to express ourselves and enjoy music with others. Playing the piano is for creating beautiful sounds, not really for developing finger speed or strength. That’s the function of gym.

< Music is like cooking >

When we cook, to make roast beef tender, of course, it’s nice to have a tender heart, but without knowing how to control the temperature, the roast beef won’t become tender merely by our tender heart.

By only adding salt, the dish won’t be sweet. Similarly, simply playing or writing a C major triad chord won’t convey a sorrowful feeling.

To create the feeling we want, no matter how much sentiment we have in our hearts, to convey it via music, it needs to be translated into the language which the piano can understand, which means, how we press and lift the keys and pedals. Similarly, when we compose, it needs to be transferred into chords, and notes we write.

< Difference between an audience and a musician >

There is a common belief that a musician can make music with sentiment or feeling. While it’s partially true, the most essential thing is knowing ‘’How’’ to create the sound that conveys the feeling we want, rather than merely knowing ‘’What’' feeling we want to convey.

The understanding of the mechanism behind music is essential, as cooking, and that is the difference between an audience and a musician. As an audience, one can simply feel the music. Like a chief who knows how to create a specific flavor to convey, a musician knows how to create the sound which can convey the feeling we want. While knowing which feeling we want is great, it’s merely the first step. Your emotions are not too different from Chopin, Beethoven, Adele or Taylor Swift, otherwise, they can’t resonate with you. But they know how to create the sound that conveys the feeling they want to their audience.

< Course Content >

I consider my course to be a form of "Music Consultation" because it contains a wide range of subjects that are essential to a professional musician. While we focus on piano playing, there are also music theory, music history, instrument construction, ergonomics for performers, analysis of composer styles, composition, arrangement, recording, MIDI, computer music, the physics of sound, and more.
In avoid of confusion, let’s still call my course as "Piano Course”.

< Duration >

For each course, I will reserve at least 70 minutes in my schedule for you, including 60 minutes of class time and an additional 10 minutes for discussion and any questions you may have. This will ensure that your courses are not rushed by the next student. This ensures that there is enough time for you to solve your piano and music problems.

< Recording >

I highly encourage my students to record their progress. This can provide an objective standard for comparison and help you analyze your playing precisely. In my nine years of experience teaching music, I've found many students, including those advanced, already play certain sections very well, while other sections may not be not well enough. But they still try to improving those fine sections, while not aware of those weak sections.
Without an objective reference, it’s hard to distribute our effort precisely. This can lead to not only unstable performance, but also practicing without a precise goal can easily reduce enthusiasm. Recording your results and comparing them with those recordings you like on YouTube or Spotify can be an effective way to analyze your playing and set precise goals.

If you have a digital piano, I can help you produce a video of your performance for each session. This can be a tangible record of your efforts and you can share it with your friends and family via YouTube or other platforms.

The most important matter that I could write here about is my passion to teach. I've been teaching already for more than 10 years, from kids to adults. I'm a classical pianist, but I am opened to other musical styles. What I want you to get from your lessons with me, is not only a huge knowledge of theorical stuff or a great technique, I would like to show you my musical world, the imagination and inner exploration that is required to understand and to love music in a whole new level. Once you have found them, it will be very hard to quit playing!

The trumpet: its correct technical execution and the interpretation of popular and academic universal repertoires, is available to everyone regardless of their age. We will build a logical sequence of studies that will help develop the technical aspects. And we will address repertoires according to the age and taste of the student. we will draw a path with short, medium and long term goals. we will build a technical routine and healthy habits to progress correctly. In addition, we will select musical pieces by mutual agreement to mature the technical development hand in hand with musical growth.

I am a professional trumpeter, I have participated in symphony orchestras, wind bands, big band, and small chamber and jazz ensembles. I have extensive experience teaching children, youth and adults.

For me it is very important to make music from the first lesson, because there must be a balance between technical practice and its application in small melodies or musical pieces. No matter the musical genre, we will always find a repertoire according to the level and interest of each student.

If you already know how to play and you need to perfect a piece or prepare a recital or audition, you can count on my experience and accompaniment as well.

I teach online via Zoom, using software which allows you to see the exact keys I'm playing on my keyboard.

My teaching method is to focus on whatever type of music the student loves most, and to build from there. I believe that many people give up their dream of playing an instrument simply because they aren't inspired enough, so my goal is to instill a love for music, whatever that means personally for each individual student.

Everyone learns differently and has their own pace and rhythm. I have some students who like to have a regular weekly or biweekly lesson, and others who just get in touch once in a while when they have digested the previous lesson and feel ready to build on it. Whatever the case, I am very flexible and we can figure out what works best for you.

A bit about me:

Originally honing my skills on the British jazz scene and holding residencies in restaurants and bars around the country, I then went on to tour the world playing on cruise ships, hotels and festivals. I returned to London to complete my master's in jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music, and during this time performed regularly at Ronnie Scotts, The Vortex and many other venues across the UK. I then spent two years in South America learning about salsa and Cuban music. I now mainly work as a transcriber, writing sheet music for all instruments including full Big Band scores. I have also worked extensively in musical theatre, most recently as musical director for 'Jersey Boys', and on the first US national tour of 'Summer: the Donna Summer Musical'. The video shown below is from my stint playing and directing 'After Midnight', a show set to the music of the Duke Ellington Big Band.

Hello there! 🎶
Yes, you, nice human.
Maybe you’ve been dreaming of playing the piano for a while now. Perhaps you played a little as a child but stopped somewhere along the way. Or maybe you simply love the sound of the piano and the black and white keys and often think: ‘I wish I could do that’.
But then these thoughts appear:
‘I don’t have enough time’
‘The music school is too far away.’
‘What if it’s too difficult for me?’
‘My work schedule doesn’t allow fixed lesson times.’
Here’s the good news: you don’t have to wait any longer.
Now is the right moment to start.

The solution? Online piano coaching.
As a musician and piano teacher, I understand these struggles very well. I personally had a hard time with the rigid structure of traditional music schools, and for a the longest time I didn’t know how to practise efficiently. How do you make progress without feeling overwhelmed? How do you combine learning music with a busy life?
Through years of experience, trial and error, , and a lot of searching, I found my own way, sometimes unconventional, sometimes surprising, but always with a lot of love for music.
I now hold a Master’s degree in Music, and I wrote my thesis on stress in professional musicians. This research not only influenced my way of playing, but also my teaching approach. I don’t believe music education should be stressful or intimidating. Instead, it should be supportive, motivating, and adapted to the person behind the instrument-while still actually learning something.

What can I offer you?
One-to-one piano lessons, just like at a music school — but with so much more freedom.

Flexibility that fits your life
You learn from your own home, your own safe space. My agenda is online, and every week you choose a lesson time that works for you. Late-night shifts? No problem. Babysitter cancelled? We adapt. You stay relaxed.

Personal guidance and ongoing feedback
Between lessons, you can send me recordings of your playing. If you get stuck, you don’t have to wait a whole week to ask questions. You receive support exactly when you need it.

Learn independently, at your own pace
Prefer a more self-guided approach? I also offer a beginner video course, where you learn step by step. Taught by a real teacher — not a computer — with the option of personal guidance whenever you need it.

Relaxation, breathing & mindfulness in music
What makes my lessons special is the attention to relaxation and mental well-being. Music is not only physical; it is extremely connected to the mind and the breath. That’s why I incorporate elements of meditation, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques into my teaching.
Especially when preparing for a performance or a stressful moment, these tools can make a huge difference.
For example: before a concert, nerves often show up as shallow breathing, tension, or racing thoughts. I teach simple breathing exercises that help you calm your nervous system, focus your attention, and return to the music instead of the fear.
By integrating relaxation and mindfulness into your piano practice, you don’t just improve your technique — you build confidence, focus, and a healthier relationship with music-and yourself .

Why choose my lessons?
Because I combine:
professional musical training ( I’m not only a pianist, also a bassoonist traveling with orchestra )
personal experience with performance stress (Yes, I was stressed too!)
a flexible, modern teaching approach
and a deep belief that learning music should feel supportive and joyful
My goal for you is progress, confidence, and enjoyment.

Ready to begin your musical journey?
Together we’ll explore your goals and find a way of learning piano that truly fits your life.
I look forward to meeting you and making music together.

Available in English, Dutch and French.

This class is for students who feel stuck or confused with harmony or counterpoint, even after studying the rules.

Many students struggle not because they lack ability, but because explanations often remain abstract or disconnected from real musical practice. In these lessons, I help you understand what is really happening in harmony and counterpoint, step by step, through clear explanations and guided practice.

We work on concrete musical examples and written exercises, focusing on logic, clarity and musical sense. Lessons are adapted to the student’s actual level and specific difficulties, whether you are a conservatory student, a university student, a music teacher, or an independent learner.

The aim is to move from confusion to control: gaining confidence, understanding and autonomy, so that harmony and counterpoint start making musical sense instead of feeling obscure or mechanical.

I am a piano teacher graduated from the Conservatoire de Paris with over 17 years of teaching experience, specializing in piano lessons for children and young learners.

My classical conservatory training provides a strong technical and musical foundation, which I adapt carefully for children in a supportive and encouraging learning environment.

I believe that a solid classical base, combined with motivation and enjoyment, is essential for long-term musical development. Lessons are structured yet flexible and always adapted to each child’s age, personality, and attention span.

In addition to my musical training, I integrate principles of child psychology into my teaching to help children stay engaged, confident, and genuinely interested in piano.

I work closely with parents and provide clear feedback on progress, motivation, and healthy practice habits at home.

Hello,
Welcome to my world!
My name is Laurence. I have been playing the piano since I was 5 years old and I have been teaching it for over 20 years. I have experience teaching children from the age of 5 and adults of all levels.

A graduate of the conservatories of Aix-en-Provence (DEM) and Montpellier (DEM) in France, I completed my studies at the Geneva University of Music, where I earned a Master of Arts in piano pedagogy. Alongside my musical pursuits, I am an avid dancer and have participated in numerous international partner dance competitions. I organize many auditions for my students, as well as dance and piano performances.

I am dynamic, caring, but also demanding and a perfectionist.
