Erfahrung / Qualifikationen
I am a highly committed and motivational English for Academic Purposes (EAP) educator with over fifteen years of teaching experience in higher education and international language learning environments. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about supporting students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, helping them build the confidence, academic skills, and independence required to succeed in English-medium education. My teaching philosophy centres on motivating students to engage actively with their learning, creating supportive and dynamic learning environments where students feel encouraged to develop their voices as confident communicators.
Much of my recent work has been at the University of Glasgow, where I have held roles as both Associate Tutor and EAP Lecturer within the School of Modern Languages and Cultures. In these positions, I have taught across a range of academic programmes, supervised TESOL master’s students, and delivered academic literacies workshops while providing detailed and constructive feedback to support students’ academic development. A significant part of this work has involved online and blended teaching, including facilitating virtual discussions, delivering remote workshops, and supporting students through digital learning platforms. I have also convened pre-sessional courses and contributed to Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) initiatives, as well as supporting colleagues with Technology-Enhanced Language Teaching (TELT). These experiences have strengthened my interest in online teaching and my ability to create engaging and interactive learning experiences in virtual environments.
Alongside my work at the University of Glasgow, I have extensive experience preparing international students for university study through my roles at Kaplan International Colleges and INTO Newcastle University. In these positions, I taught academic skills, research methods, and study skills through both face-to-face and online delivery, including intensive pre-sessional programmes. I regularly used digital tools such as Turnitin, Padlet, and Socrative to facilitate collaborative learning, provide meaningful feedback, and maintain student engagement in online settings.
Earlier in my career, I gained valuable international teaching experience in the UK, Romania, and Italy, working with learners ranging from young students to adult professionals. These diverse contexts strengthened my ability to motivate learners at different stages of their educational journeys and to adapt my teaching to varied cultural and educational backgrounds.
