Want to Learn English from a native speaker?

I will be offering tutoring exclusively through English. The structure of the class will have a focus on spoken communication on a 1 vs 1 basis.
English can be a hard language to learn so I intend to keep the class light and easy to follow. Notes will be provided on vocabulary and grammar to establish a basis of knowledge and focus will be given on how to pronounce words in the given context. Also, I will give feedback on how to structure your written sentences. The class can take place wherever is convenient. Depending on your level of understanding, I can tailor the class to your fluency.

Therefore, the aim of the tutoring is to:
Improve spoken communication
Improve understanding of grammar, vocabulary
Improve syntax of sentences to sound like a native speaker

This course is fitted individually, depending on the needs of the student.

If the student would like to focus on grammar then the material should be sent beforehand so I can have a chance to look at it and prepare for any questions that may arise.

If the student would like to focus on spelling and/or spoken English then no material should be sent beforehand, just an overview of the request.

If the student would like to focus on reading I'll supply the materials depending on their level.

As for math, I only teach high school students and first year University students. The material for the class should be sent to me beforehand so I can be better prepared to answer any questions.

In a personal learning route you walk on your own level and at your own pace through vocabulary, grammar and especially talking.
No school stuff, but a lot of variety to stimulate your GOESTING for the language and give a boost to your self-confidence.

I am a certified language teacher (NL-ENG) with many years of experience in schools, adult education and companies, and consider me a 'language desire architect'.

I currently work as a private language teacher in Belgium and I have a good level of English. As I am not a native speaker, I do not give advanced lessons. People from any age, including kids, can follow my English lessons for levels A1, A2 and B1.

- What do the lessons entail?
The tutoring focuses on mathematics in secondary education. I help students understand both the theory and its practical application in exercises. If necessary, I provide additional study materials, such as diagrams, summaries, or resources, to clarify the material.

- My approach
I would appreciate receiving an overview of the study material, tests, or assignments in advance that present difficulties. This allows me to properly prepare the lessons and focus on the student's specific needs. This also allows me to better assess the level.

During tutoring, I try to explain the material in a simple and understandable way, often from a different perspective than in the classroom. My goal is for the student to truly understand the material and gain more confidence. Seeing progress and achieving results together gives me great satisfaction.

- Why do I tutor?
Mathematics has always been a great passion of mine. Although my current studies no longer revolve around it, I still enjoy pursuing it. Tutoring is therefore an ideal combination of hobby and extra income for me. Naturally, I always work in a professional and structured manner.

- Experience
Since 2018, I've been tutoring students of various ages, both in primary and secondary education. I also regularly help fellow students with their learning material, which is always a positive experience.

- Who am I?
My name is Arina, I'm 26 years old and I study law. I live and study in Leuven, where I also live in student housing.

I'm an approachable, enthusiastic, and open person. This helps me quickly build trust, so students feel comfortable and confident asking questions. They know they can contact me outside of tutoring sessions if they get stuck on an exercise, and they often continue to do so afterward.

During my own high school years, I struggled with math in my first and second grades. Although I found the subject interesting, I struggled to fully grasp the material because the explanations didn't align with my learning style.

When I started tutoring (at my parents' insistence), my perspective on mathematics completely changed. My interest grew so strongly that I later pursued a degree in economics and mathematics. My love for mathematics has remained ever since.

Because math wasn't a part of my further studies, I decided to tutor myself. This way, I can share my enthusiasm and help students develop the confidence I once had to build.

Studying does not go without saying, but requires mental preparation and motivation, once you have mastered these two aspects, you are already much further and you are ready to master learning step by step on an independent basis, and in that process where you really 'learns to learn' I would very much like to help you with that.
I myself am a law student at KULeuven, where I have to learn great suits, but by applying the right way and having the right motivation everything works.

I believe that language is a powerful tool today. Not only does it help us understand the world from a different perspective, but it also teaches us the culture of the people who use it. I have had the opportunity to work with teenagers for 5 years now as a student associate in a science center, as a mentor and a lecturer in a different field. What I have learned from that experience is that first and foremost one must become a friend with their student, to understand their needs and their attitudes. I will do my best to make the classes fun by combining audio and visual material in my teaching. My field of study is Social and Cultural Anthropology.

I obtained a BA degree in English Language and Literature, as well as an English MA degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology at KU Leuven. This academic background has laid the foundation for my theoretical knowledge of the English language, especially my reading and writing skills. Additionally, I spent a semester in Dublin in order to improve my 'hands-on' speaking skills. I have a genuine passion for the English language which I hope to pass on to my students.
